Great hammer. I’ve had this hammer for a year and a half now. I use it black smithing and the head is still tight and secure with a good amount of use. It has a good weight to it and I switch back and forth between this hammer and the bigger rounding hammer I have. I would definitely recommend this product. If you are using it black smithing I do suggest the peen shorter so you don’t dig to deep in the metal with it.

If you are looking for the perfect hammer for the Bavarian sport of Baumstamm Nageln, you've found it. Weight, balance, shape of the hammer head are on point. I'd recommend 12 Penny nails. Give this a try at your next backyard Bierfest.

Really nice hammer once the face and peen are dressed. Purchased October, 2024, at the price of 16.71.

I have a number of these Gedore engineer's hammers, from 300 to 1000 grams. They all have nicely machined heads and well-fitted handles. The handles are advertised as ash, which is generally considered a bit weaker than hickory. If overstrikes are likely, it might be a good idea to add a protective wrap of some sort just below the head. I haven't had any issues with mine, but I'm fairly careful in avoiding striking the handle. All of mine had a sticker advertising "made in Germany".

Quality feel, especially at this price point. (As is the case for all Gedore RED products in my experience)

If you're starting doing knife making or blacksmithing in general you should get this. It's very nice and feels good in the hand. It has good weight to it but it's not excessively heavy. A big plus too is that it's German made, not cheap Chinese garbage from harbor freight.

After reading some reviews about misaligned handles and poor quality manufacturing on the hammer head I was quite worried but I decided to roll the dice and take a chance anyway, and I am very glad I did! This hammer is actually very well Hardened and Tempered Steel! The grinds on the hammer head are flawless and clean, the face is unmarred and very flat, the peen has safety grinds and no burrs at the corners. The handle is comfortable and absorbs the impact shock well and is even useable from two holding positions without loss of comfort. Hammer came with a sticker written in German that proudly states "Made in Germany". If you're looking for a great German style Engineer's Smithing Hammer, this is the one to get folks!

I buy these hammers for blacksmithing. For the money, they are great. They are not, however, ready to 'go to work' straight out of the box. The faces have sharp chamfers and need to be dressed properly before use. Further, the handles are a bit rough and require sanding. To the average buyer / user, these may be non-selling points, but no big deal to me since I do the same to every hammer I buy. They are GREAT hammers for the price and work well for my purpose.
