EASY TO TEST ENGINE COMPRESSION

  • 1.Before the compression test, run the engine till it reaches normal temperature and stop the engine.
  • 2.Disconnect all the spark plug wires, clean the dirt around and remove the spark plugs. Remove the air filter and fully open the throttle. Disconnect the ignition system.
  • 3.Tightly insert aluminium rod rubber cone adapter into the tested cylinder's spark plug well. Or you can test the cylinder pressure by screwing the right size dedicated adapter, hand tighten only, do not by a wrench.
  • 4.Observe the gauge and record after the pointer stabilizes. Press the release valve to zero position. Repeat the test, do it at least twice for each cylinder and take the average of the values.
USAGE AND FUNCTION

USAGE AND FUNCTION

JIFETOR engine cylinder compression measuring meter tool set is perfect for checking compression pressure on most gasoline/gas/fuel engine cylinder, but not suitable for most diesel engine because of the low pressure range 0-300PSI.

ATTENTION

A variation in compression readings between cylinders is often a better indication of engine problems than the absolute values of compression.

NOTE

1. Please wear gloves and goggles when use.

2. This 9pcs professional gas engine cylinder compression test tool should be used by professional or under the guidance of a professional.

3. Always refer to the vehicle manufacturer's service instructions, or a proprietary manual, to establish the current procedure and data.

4. Always release the pressure via the release valve before disconnecting the tester.

5. Set the throttle plates to the wide open position when test. Please note, after test, failure to return the throttle plates to the closed position before starting the engine can cause serious damage to the engine.

6. After insert the quick plug into the quick coupler, push the anti-slip knurled grip ring on the quick coupler back.

The 10mm brass adapter was not long enough to achieve secure thread engagement (3 turns) before fully compressing the o-ring seal.

I was worried these made in china compression testers all had all the variety of issues other reviewers of this model (and seemingly identical other models with lower reviews) noted. The first time I checked compression on my Volvo T5 2005 V50 to the Loaner unit from an autoparts store, with a cold engine, got 70-95-95-95-70. Hmmm, not good but engine is cold, and I must return the loaner. So I order this Jiffetor compression tester that also include a rigid 6inch metal threaded tube fitting. You have probably noticed most other kits do not have the long threaded adapter, it was $2-$3 more than sim kits. I was concerned the black rubber tube adapter was loosey goosey or gonna break when twisted. This time I warm up the engine as suggested, readings are 100-x-115-x-82 (was after the squirts of oil into the plug hole). I concluded, the cold engine and warm engine gave similar psi, the professional loaner kit and Jiffetor gave similar psi. The squirts of oil did raise compression a little, to be expected in older engines. Image shows the Jiffetor pressure gauge adapted to air compressor outlet, and all 3 read the same.

I have a classic car. this is a must have to determine the overall health of the engine and see if there is anything that is causing problems with the car running. If you have low compression, your car wont start properly or run properly.this really helps you in diagnostics of an engine that has issues. IF you have low compression this will find it. must have for any mechanic.

It has the metal extension tube which on deep recess spark plug openings is very useful. The other kits do not. Good written information given with kit and support info too. Excellent for compression test and finding blown head gaskets.
