OLD SCHOOL, but useful. The event I'm entering for this fall has a paper roll chart available. There will be trail crossings & switchbacks that will require some highway access. Can't just follow the trail or other riders if I'm so slow that there isn't another rider to observe or markers & trail officials not present. I used manual roll charts in the '80's & '90's. Everything has gone electronic these days, but I haven't pulled the trigger on one of those just yet. This item seems to be well built & sturdy. Have NOT mounted it yet to my bike, but the simple hardware seems sturdy & useful.

I like the older model with the snap on cover better, but it seems to be no longer available. These side loading units are more fiddily to load.

It was easy to mount, easy to load, and easy to use. GPS tracks are not always available for off-road events, so having a route sheet (for some events it's mandatory) holder is indispensable.

I had a scooter rally to attend and it was going to use the enduro idea of directions. I bought this and was happy with the way it was made. I made some changes. I added a soda straw over the center threaded bolt to reduce scrolling friction. I oiled the screw axles. There is only so much paper you can roll into these. you have to use tape to fix the paper to the scroll axle. I also removed the small hose clamp and added my own larger clamp to fit around the head seat on my Lambretta. Overall, this worked just fine.

Had to make a 3D printed base adapter for mounting to handlebars. The included hose clamp and rubber sliced tube are terrible for mounting/dismounting. Just terrible. I understand keeping costs low, but this is bad. So, after a couple hours of design and printing, I have a suitable solution, made my own adapter for my handlebars, by copying the mounting geometry of my old MSR holder. Now I mount and dismount using 2 cable ties and a cutter, just like the old discontinued MSR Holder. FAST and simple.Very nice width for paper route sheets, will easily take 2-3/8" paper width!! This is FAR better than my broken cheapo MSR Route chart holder (discontinued). The events I go to put their routes on standard 8-1/2 x 11 paper sheets. We have to cut hem and tape them together, and they were NEVER narrower than 2-1/8" . Had to manually trim to get it to fit the MSR holder, glad it broke! The Enduro Engineering Holder will hold 2-1/4 with ease, no more fudging with the paper width. Happily it does seem like clubs are going towards GPX tracks instead, and embracing GPS technology. But many rides and Enduro races in the Northeast still use paper route sheets.
