About this item

  • Kevlar Braided Line, Natural Yellow, 100% Kevlar Yarns, designed by EMMA KITES, providing 1mm~4.6mm (100lb~2,000lb) for various outdoor, indoor applications.
  • EMMA KITES Kevlar Braided Cords, firmly built in braided constructions. In comparison to twisted lines, braided cords better resist end raveling, possess higher strength and nicer hand touching. Taking the hand crafts and splicing needs into consideration, Kevlar cords are single hollow braids (2000lb is double braid) for you to make whoopie, loopie slings, continuous loop, etc.
  • Inherently Flame Resistant, withstanding extreme temperatures up to 800 °F / 427 °C! To build shock lines, parachute systems for model rockets, or replace/upgrade wicks of torches/lamp, Kevlar cords are the unbeatable choice for you to fulfill flame-resistant demands and for applications in high temperatures.
  • Reliable Survival Cord in the wild! Highly abrasion/friction resistant, Kevlar cord can be used as highly efficient cords friction saw to help escape from plastic zip ties, ropes or tapes, and cut through various materials including woods, plastic tubes, nylon, polyesters to complete projects. In the binding, fastening, and wrapping jobs, Kevlar line/cord largely reduces risks of unexpected snaps, providing assured protection especially when in direct contact with sharp edges.
  • High tensile strength cordages in lightweight, 10X greater than steel on an equal weight basis. Wound on compact rolls that are small enough to carry on person, and offer easy and fast deployment when you need it. Multi-use tool for your daily life, a must carry-on gear in your EDC kit. Applications are not limited to kites, tent guylines, bear bagging, repairing, fishing assist line, speargun shooting, snare wires, trip lines. Tensile strengths are tested in accordance with ISO 2307 by SGS.

Product Description

kevlar cord

trip wire

High Abrasion-Resistance

One of the best advantages of Kevlar line. It helps avoid many unexpected string snaps which happen a lot in binding, fastening objects or uses near sharp edges. In addition to "resistance" properties, Kevlar line is also highly resistant to abrasion, to chemicals (especially acids, and alkalis.)

Model rocket

Flame Resistant-Capable to Work at High Temperature

Kevlar doesn't melt and only decomposes at relatively high temperature, which makes it the common and popular material in firefighter PPE equipment.

fishing tackle

Toughness - Yields High Strength in Small Size

High tensile strength cordages in lightweight, 10X greater than steel on an equal weight basis. A roll of 100ft 550lb kevlar weighs less than 3 Oz, light and compact to carry on person in the wild.

hammock

Low Stretch, Least Creep

Stretch annoys much in applications like stringing hammocks, kite flying control, especially in control of stunt kite or traction kite. Kevlar cords have extremely low stretch and don't create creep even after long time loading.

kevlar string

SPECIFICATION

Material: 100% Natural Kevlar Yarn

Construction: Braid. The multi-strands interweaving process makes the Kevlar cord much more durable and able to resist raveling.

Decomposition Temperature: 800~900 °F / 427~482 °C. Kevlar doesn't melt like nylon or polyester. It decomposes at high temperatures.

Approximately ±2~3% deviation exists in measurement.

Safe Working Load Limit: 20% of the tensile strength, for the longevity of the cord and safe uses

Packaging: On roll

Natural Kevlar Braid Cords

Tensile Strength & Working Load Limit

Working Load Limit (WLL) = 20% of Tensile Strength, for the longevity of the cord and safe uses

Tensile Strength

Also known as the labeled strength, is the average strength at which the new and unused cord would break when tested in laboratory condition in accordance with Cordage Institute Standard Test Methods. The load, applied in parallel to the cord, slowly increases until the cord breaks.

Working Load Limit (WLL)

In the real world of practical uses, there are various factors that would impact or reduce the strength of any rope/cord, including knots in the rope, abrasion, humidity, UV, former use and care, etc. To assure safe uses, it's indispensable to adopt a safety margin in the cord/rope strength, which leads to Working Load Limit (WLL).

The Working Load Limit (WLL) is determined by dividing the tensile strength by a safety factor. To assure the longevity of the cord and maintain a comfortable margin for safe uses, a 5:1 safety factor (20% of the tensile strength) is adopted and recommended for emma kites Kevlar cord for general applications.

When launching model rockets, the shock cord attaches the rocket to the parachute. When the model rocket engine completes it burn, it blows the parachute and nosecone off the ricket, but sometimes the heat will melt the old shock cords. That is where this product shines. I replaced the old shock cord with this small light heat resistant cord. It works very well for this purpose. So - Model Rocket approved.

I won't build a model rocket without this stuff these days. I have swapped out all the old elastic shock cords with kevlar and there are no more worries about burn-through or brittleness with age. The one roll I have bought has done many, many rockets (at about 3x the rocket length). No zips yet, but that is more a matter of proper staging than anything else. Tough as nails and worth its weight in gold. Love this stuff and will be buying more as soon as I need it. High quality for sure!

Like many products I purchase - I use them for strange applications. This line, I used to create 4 small loops that attach to the lower housing of our 100lb outboard motor. I then clip into these looks with a harness I made to lift the motor from the dinghy onto our sailboat, for storage. The loops have bene holding up very well indeed.

Using this for shock cords in model rockets. Been looking for this exact product. Lots cheaper than buying by the foot from rocket supply sites.

I dont know the metric sizes and bought this without checking. It's still good. You can braid it and it's useful. Replace guy lines on tents, use it to string laundry lines in the woods, etc. I've even used a length of it to hold a steel mug in fire to boil water.

I recently used Kevlar Cord for a project and finished the ends with Adhesive lined Heat Shrink Tube. For the 1.7 mm Kevlar Cord, I opted for a 3/32" or 2.4mm Tube. The cord offered a more grippy texture compared to nylon fiber, and I noticed no stretching, making it ideal for applications like grip wrapping. The adhesive from the Heat Shrink Tube melts into the fiber, providing a secure connection and a polished appearance.

The line itself is fine. The spool is cheap. I purchased two of these and one of the spools was broken, and that was not from shipping. The package was fine. The broken spool makes the line difficult to use, as it easily tangles, even when transferring onto a new spool.

Empfehlung.

Great stuff!I got the 150lbs version. I plan to get more, and thicker too.- Thin yet super strong.- Can be tied pretty well.- Works amazingly well for some sewing tasks, especially when you need extreme strength without doing the stitch many times. Not for general clothing, etc, but I have found many uses for it for leather, quick denim repairs, etc. You'll want some thick needles to do this. Slightly thicker than come in most kits, but can easily be found in Amazon or a supermarket. I got some at Sainsburys and also a big pack at the 99p store.- Very cut resistant, although can still be cut with a knife or scissors, just takes a bit more force. Really excellent for the thickness though.- Seems like a fair price.Feel free to ask me questions in the comments.
