About this item

  • Braided Cord made of 100% Black Kevlar Yarn, designed by EMMA KITES in response to increasing demand by users for better adaption to outdoors.
  • EMMA KITES Black Kevlar Cords are built in braided constructions. In comparison to twisted lines, braided cords better resist end raveling, possess stronger strength and nicer hand touching. Taking the hand crafts and splicing needs into consideration, Kevlar cords of 550lb~1050lb (2.1mm~2.6mm) are 8 strands or 12 strands single hollow braids for you to make whoopie, loopie slings, continuous loop, etc.
  • Inherently Flame Resistant, withstanding extreme temperatures up to 800 °F / 427 °C! To build shock lines, parachute systems for model rockets, or replace/upgrade wicks of torches/lamp, Kevlar cords are the unbeatable choice for you to fulfill flame-resistant demands and for applications in high temperatures.
  • Reliable Survival Cord in the wild! Highly abrasion/friction resistant, Kevlar cord is used as highly efficient cords friction saw to help escape from plastic zip ties, ropes or tapes, and cut through various materials including woods, plastic tubes, nylon, polyesters to complete projects. In the binding, fastening, and wrapping jobs, Kevlar line/cord largely reduces risks of unexpected snaps, providing assured protection especially when in direct contact with sharp edges.
  • High tensile strength cordages in lightweight, 10X greater than steel on an equal weight basis. Wound on compact rolls that are small enough to carry on person, and offer easy and fast deployment when you need it. Multi-use tool for your daily life, a must carry-on gear in your EDC kit. Applications are not limited to kites, tent guylines, bear bagging, repairing, fishing assist line, speargun shooting, snare wires, trip lines. Tensile strengths are tested in accordance with ISO 2307 by SGS

Product Description

black kevlar cord

trip wire

HIgh Abrasion-Resistance

One of the best advantages of Kevlar line. It helps avoid many unexpected string snaps which happen a lot in binding, fastening objects or uses near sharp edges. In addition to "resistance" properties, Kevlar line is also highly resistant to abrasion, to chemicals (especially acids, and alkalis.)

Model rocket

Flame Resistant-Capable to Work at High Temperaturel

Kevlar doesn't melt and only decomposes at relatively high temperature, which makes it the common and popular material in firefighter PPE equipment.

fishing tackle

Toughness - Yields High Strength in Small Size

High tensile strength cordages in lightweight, 10X greater than steel on an equal weight basis. A roll of 100ft 700lb black kevlar only weighs 3.38Oz, light and compact to carry on person in the wild.

hammock

Low Stretch, Least Creep

Stretch annoys much in applications like stringing hammocks, kite flying control, especially in control of stunt kite or traction kite. Kevlar cords have extremely low stretch and don't create creep even after long time loading.

KEVLAR CORD
Material Black Kevlar Yarns by Dupont
Decomposition Temperature 800~900 °F / 427~482 °C. Kevlar doesn't melt like nylon or polyester. It decomposes at high temperatures.
Melting Point Kevlar fibers don't melt.
Elongation at work: <1%. at break: <4%
MBS_Minimum Breaking Strength 50lb~1800lb, Tensile strength on the label. The average strength at which the new and unused cord will break when tested in laboratory conditions in accordance with Cordage Institute Standard Test Methods. The load is applied in parallel to the cord and slowly increases until the cord breaks.
WLL_Working Load Limit Unlike the tensile strength testing in the lab, in practical uses, various factors would impact or reduce the strength of any rope/cord, including knots, abrasion, humidity, UV, former use and care, etc. To ensure safe uses, it's essential to adopt a safety margin for the cord/rope strength, which leads to a Working Load Limit (WLL).
Recommended Safety Factor 5:1 or 20%. The Working Load Limit (WLL) is determined by dividing the tensile strength by a safety factor. To assure the longevity of the cord and maintain a comfortable margin for safe use, a 5:1 safety factor (20% of the tensile strength) is adopted and recommended for emma kites Kevlar cord for normal use.
Diameter 0.4mm~4.6mm. Measured by hand. Measurement deviation exists.
Splicing availability 550lb or 2.1mm and above. [NOTE] 50lb~300lb are too thin to be spliced.
Packaging On spools. The used spools vary with different cord types and lengths. Easy to carry around the person. Fast to deploy when needed. Always keep the cord well-organized for storage.

Strong and durable. Value for money. Only issue is the open strands after you cut it but it can be overcome by applying glue to keep them together.

I use cordage often. I'm proficient at tying knots. I'm really glad I found this product. I'm planning on using it to sew leather. It's Tough,it's, hopefully, going to be able to stand up to harsh ,regular exposure. One thing is sure, nobody is going to grab it and pull hard enough to break it. It should make a really good leader for fishing .

False advertising! I bought this to suspend a cooking grill from a tripod while winter camping. The cord burnt and caught fire after holding a regular bic an inch away. Waste of money!
