Haven’t had need to use it yet, fortunately, but if I need it, I have it ready.

Very thin foil faced plastic, feels tough enough to bivy in. Can’t tell about the insulating function - any heat would be made by my body and hopefully contained in this bag.

The bags are a great item to have in your emergency items, hopefully, you do not need to use them, but if you do, you will be glad that you had them. The bags come well-packaged and are very compact. Overall, a very nice addition to my safety gear.

Serves its purpose in a emergency situation. It will keep you warmer than being out in a harsh environment. Also good for extra warmth between blankets or sleeping bag if your camping in colder Temps.

I was surprised to see that these are just made of two mylar blankets taped together. Literally taped together. I could get 4 of these at a dollar store and tape them together myself for half the money. They are super thin and fragile. They have an odd stink on them. They may be useful one time but they will likely tear apart in a true survival scenario.I opened one up and crawled inside to test it though. But there is no way that tiny little pouch is ever going to be used again for this. See photo. There is only one way to get into this. You have to carefully crawl into it by putting it on the floor and stepping onto the bottom of the bag, then lift it all up over your head. No way you are going to do this in winter in your car all covered in winter clothes.I wanted these for our vehicles for winter. But I just cannot see them being useful for that.

This is a great set of emergency blankets that basically amount to some mylar blankets with safety orange coloring on one side, and a set of small drawstring bags with emergency whistles at the ends of the strings. The blankets themselves are thin and really best described as mylar sheets; if you've dealt with mylar before you'll be familiar with them, but if you haven't, they're essentially thin flexible shiny plastic. They're very lightweight and compact, and despite the unfolded size of 8 feet by 3 feet each, you could easily pack these away in a backpack, bag, or even a purse if you're so inclined. As for the downsides, they come down to what these are and why they're so compact. They aren't super thick, so while they do resist cutting/tearing, they are still thin plastic, and as such if you use these on some sharp rocks, you're going to not only feel it but also risk minor punctures. They do a good job of helping to isolate temperature differences, but if you're going to be sleeping or stuck in the cold for a long period of time, you will absolutely need something like thick clothes, blankets, and padding over the snow/ground, and on the inside. Remember, mylar helps prevent heat loss from infrared heat transfer, but it can't do anything about direct contact with cold surfaces. If you're looking for a good set of emergency mylar blankets, this is a great deal at a set of two for around $10.I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis. I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review. I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product. I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable. If I get multiple of something it's because I regularly use and need both of them. And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.
