Unfortunately, mine only had 48 skeins instead of 50 (missing red and one of the middle green shades shown, but four skeins of magenta instead of two) but it's still a great value for the money.

I've been investigating what brand of embroidery floss I want to use for my crafts business and Le Paon was one of the major contenders at one point. This was my favorite pack of their floss other than the 240 pack I've yet to try but will sometime. It's a hard to beat value, you get two of each color so little worry about being able to complete most projects, and I was able to create pretty good gradients with these colors. I even got two so I could see how much the packs vary - not much. Of the 54 total colors, only 2 were different between the packs. What I don't like about the 50-packs is the lack of black and white astThose are my most commonly-used colors. There's also a disappointing lack of grey and brown in all their packs except for those that cost more than DMC, and I will not pay more for lower quality embroidery floss. Luckily Le Paon sells packs of black and white, but not at the same kind of value of the 50-packs (you can get black and white 500g DMC cones cheaper per "skein" than their black and white packs at Joann's!) Ultimately I think I'm going to have to stick with DMC in the long run due to the ability to buy specific colors especially blacks, whites, greys, and browns, to buy bulk cones, and overall the quality difference. Though I have to say, I really prefer the matte look of these strings to how shiny DMC is. Bit of a shame.

This was a gift for my 93 year old mother in law who still does handwork to keep herself busy. She loved the colors and the sturdiness of the floss. She is using it to make baby quilts for her great grandchildren's future children. She loved the metallic floss in this selection. It was a great value for the money. Good choice for beginners or the experienced.
