I’ve been sewing clothing for over 50 years this is the only the third quilt I’ve attempted in the last year. I was up for a new challenge and this quilt was so worth it. I followed page by page, used post it stickies to keep pieces labeled(very important) as there are a lot of pieces. I started 10/22/23 and finished 2/7/24. I work full time so I quilted in between and took Christmas week off!It took 187.50 hours. I only have a Brother sewing machine and I quilted it myself. Challenging enough!I’m going to start her sea creature quilt pattern in the Spring.

This is a great quilt. It is complicated and you must follow the directions carefully. Do not attempt this quilt if you are a beginner.

This pattern is well written and the pictures are really helpful. The one thing I struggled with is that the seam allowance is not 1/4 inch - it's a very scant 1/4 inch. If you don't know that (and the pattern doesn't tell you), then you will find yourself ripping seams most times because they just don't match. I have been sewing for many years and also quilting and I tried different things to try to make this pattern work. I even got a 1/4" ruler and actually drew the line so that I would make sure that it wasn't my sewing machine or presser foot. Even doing that, the seams were still not matching. It wasn't until I tried a very scant 1/4" seam allowance that it finally worked - not perfectly - but at least it came together. I wish the pattern would state that in the instructions, it would save a lot of time, not just mine but many others who have also experienced this problem. However, having said all that, now that I know, it has been fun to make this pattern. It is definitely not a pattern for beginners!
