Great sharpener. Quick sharpening and will not over sharpen. If you jam a pencil in, it will stop. I love it! My students don't play with it.

I like this sharpener. It works quickly and provides a sharp point for all my writing instruments requiring sharpening.The unit shuts off automatically when the pencils have a nice point. It can be used for a wide range of writing instruments since it has an adjustable size hole.The shaving produced during sharpening can easily be seen and emptied when the drawer approaches being full of shavings.

I'm an elementary school teacher and this sharpener is amazing! I've had it for about 6 months now and it sharpens so quickly to a perfect point--no off-center points that immediately break. Saves a lot of time and a lot of pencils since we don't have to sharpen them as often. I have been so pleased with this sharpener; functional items like this make our classroom run more smoothly and that makes my job easier.

Works pretty good but keeps stopping before pencil is completely sharp. Have to keep pulling it out and pushing it back in to finish the sharpening process. Maybe a couple of times.

Fool me twice apparently! I thought it was user error or maybe I just got a lemon with my first purchase…. NOPE… it broke after a few months of very light use just like the first. At some point, I have to choose to be better and make choices that will not cause me grief … and while this may seem dramatic… a broken pencil sharpener for a mom of 3 young kids (one of which has special needs and is obsessed with drawing), has created a house of discontent on too many occasions because the only dang orange colored pencil is dull and there’s no extras! Thanks for nothing fam- the quality of he old-school manual wall sharpeners need to make a make its way into the electric realm for all of our sakes

Hello Teachers! I have been in this business of elementary education for almost 30 years! I have used this AFMAT sharpener for the past few months with great satisfaction. I have also used the X-acto brand sharpener for about twenty years because it appeared first to be the only electric pencil sharpener on the market that would sharpen giant primary pencils. I use primary pencils for K and 1st grade because you do not have to sharpen these pencils as often due to their larger writing tip! I have written a review about one of the primary pencil brands.I bought my first AFMAT at a discount and have thoroughly enjoyed it! It is a third of the size smaller than the Xacto brand with a smaller shavings reservoir, but that is fine because the AFMAT sharpens much more quickly and accurately. I still have my X-Acto sharpener, but I use it as an extra one in the classroom.2 AFMAT sharpeners cost less than the original cost of one X-ACTO brand sharpener! I bought two more AfMAT sharpeners because my class loves colored pencils, and they dull relatively quickly. I can now sharpen two pencils at a time, which cuts the sharpening significantly. Watch for specials on colored pencils to help make buying extra pencil sharpeners worth it. The AFMATS take up less space than the X-Acto brand, so it fits much more comfortably on my desk! The suction seems adequate to help it stay in place. I even purchased one of these sharpeners for my daughter, a new teacher, as a gift! Finally, these sharpeners will make a sound, inexpensive teacher gift! Another excellent teacher gift I have given over the years is a metal Rapid Stapler! Put either of them on your Amazon Wish List!
