I ordered this spool of copper wire to do some personal projects relating to engineering and physics. The wires are certainly pure copper are very shapeable, despite being 12 gauge. I've already put some of the copper wire to use in an induction heater circuit. There are practically infinite uses for the wire though. The only negative I have to say is that the upper part of the spool came broken off, making storing and unwinding the spool a bit more difficult. Maybe the shipping caused this, maybe the spool is of poor quality plastic. Also, the seller shows an inductor in the advertising pictures which is most certainly using insulated copper wire and NOT the uninsulated wire being sold. Using this wire to make such an inductor would probably just create a short.

This wire arrived in good condition and is exactly what I ordered. It is 16 gauge bare copper wire which I will use in jewelry making. I am learning wire wrapping and started with 20 gauge wire. I have progressed to 18 gauge and am just starting with 16 gauge. As the numbers get lower the wire gets thicker, so this is the heaviest wire that I have used so far. This heavier wire is enabling me to make stronger pieces. It is just what I needed.

I used this wire to make ElectroCulture Gardening Antenna Coils, after making the coils, with the coils above the top of the 10 Inch Natural Rattan Wood Sticks I wrapped the sticks swirling it all the way downto the bottom of the sticks.I used the following kit which includes everything you need to make the Antenna Coil sticks each kit has two coil templets (a small one and a larger one)I used the small coil templet to wrap the copper wire around to get the coil shapes and you can make Air Plant Holders with the coils too...! :NAMTSO Copper Wire for Electroculture Gardening, 2 Pack Electroculture Copper Gardening Antenna & Air Plant Holder Making Tools with 16 Gauge Pure Copper Wire for Plants, Air Plant Holders Unique, S+LNAMTSO Copper Wire for Electroculture Gardening, 2 Pack Electroculture Copper Gardening Antenna & Air Plant Holder Making Tools with 16 Gauge Pure Copper Wire for PlantsUrban Naturals 100PCS Reed Diffuser Sticks, 10 Inch Natural Rattan Wood Sticks ...To make larger Antenna Coils, get larger wire and larger sticks, you could even use slender bamboo stems to make these... it needs to be natural/organic sticks or dowels.

There's not a lot to review when it comes to a spool of wire. This is a spool of uninsulated bare copper wire. It's fairly easy to bend and work with. It's flexible enough that it would be good for wire sculptures. It should be good for electronic projects where you can use bare copper wire, including making an inductor (just keep the spacing between turns so that the wire isn't touching wire and shorting out turns). I did not make an inductor out of it, but you will want some sort of support along the length of the inductor if you plan to use this in a tuned circuit and RF stability is an issue. For a short inductor, it might be stiff enough without reinforcement. It might be used in a circuit for a V- (often the "ground") or V+ bus when building a circuit using "dead bug" type of construction (without using a printed circuit board).Unlike another reviewer, my spool was not broken upon arrival, so maybe his/her experience is an outlier. The spool is not marked as per gauge or length, so if you need some mark on the spool, you'll need to use a marker and do it yourself. I did not view the lack of this to be a problem, so I am not demoting it a star in my review since it is more a packaging issue than a defect.

This is 100% solid copper and weighs 1lb.I confirmed with my multimeter that it is bare/not enameled, so it is suitable for wiring and craft/jewelry projects but is different than the type of wire you need for winding an electromagnet (use enameled/coated wire for this). I'm using it as bus wiring on a few electronics projects. The end of the wire was easy to find and the spooled wire held together as I took some off.

I've worked with other brands of soft copper wire before and they're quite a bit softer than this wire, it's not super easy to form with bare hands. It's probably hand wound, which is fine, that's not a problem. There are a lot of scratches on at least the wires on the outside of the spool, which is unfortunate for those trying to make sculptures or other nice looking things. The wire is also a bit tarnished, but that will happen with bare copper wire and can easily be polished up.I gave it three stars because of the scratches on a good portion of the wire.

I got this copper wire to do a “potato battery” demonstration at my kid’s school. The demo will be part of a Halloween “mad scientist” display so I wanted to be sure I got something that would be easy for the kids to see while also being easy to shape as needed. This wire should be perfect for my needs. The 16 gauge is thick enough that it’s easy to see from a distance. I can bend it by hand but it’s also strong and holds the shape well once you’ve bent it (so I won’t have to worry about them flattening as I transport them). Since the theme for our display is a mad scientist’s lab, I’m going to cut the lengths of wire needed and then wrap them around a pen to make a coil. I experimented a little with this and it was pretty easy to do once I got used to the wire’s resistance. I was able to create a very even coil shape simply by winding it around a pen by hand, and was then able to stretch it out to create more spaces between each loop and even bend the coil. This will be perfect for connecting the wire from one potato to the next: I’ll be able to give them whatever shape I need and since they hold their shape so well I don’t have to worry about them sagging into each other and interrupting the current.I’m saving all the measuring and cutting for once I get the rest of the materials I need to create the experiment, but this wire is a step in the right direction. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun for the kids.
