There is a 3M sticky pad already on the bottom. I would use a micro-USB cable (not included) to do the initial charge, then let the solar panel take over. Not sure how long the battery will last if stored in a garage without sun. On a full charge I’m seeing blips about every 5 seconds. Right out of the box, it’s more like every 30 sec. Use that range as an indicator of when it’s time to provide some external recharging. There is a on-off switch, but once stuck down, it’s small and probably hard to reach. Getting it off the sticky might be the hard part. Anything that looks like a deterrent is helpful but if a robber wants something in your car, this might not be enough.

I've had these before over the years and have gotten a lot of miles out of them on our older cars. I certainly wouldn't recommend substituting these with a real alarm system, but if just want to have something inexpensive on your dash that you don't have to mess with or worry about that will show a simple flashing light when the sun goes down, then these are just fine for that. The simple use for these to to deter someone who isn't really serious about breaking into your car and will hopefully keep going when they see what appears to be an active alarm system. For that type of use I can recommend these solar powered dummy alarm LED lights.

I love that these can be charged via USB and retain their power via Solar. I got these because over a year ago, our car got broken into. Yes it has a car alarm, but whoever the thieves were, they opened the door w/o any issue, like they had their own key fob ! I'm hopping putting this might make them think twice like, why isn't the light gong off ? (That and blink camera's lol )

It works as described with about a 5 second interval between light blinks. I like that it doesn't blink even when turned on if it's really sunny. The switch can quickly be reached and turned off for when I am driving. Placing it near the mirror lets it charge from the sunlight easily and I won't have to charge it often since I park outdoors. This will help as a security deterrent because I live in one of the places in the world leading for auto theft.

And I tried this out because I own a older car and it does have a factory alarm but you can't really see anything flashing showing its active just window stickers and I Decided to get these and use as a deterrent and they work nicely so far just wish they were brighter but I will definitely continue using these, just make sure you fully charge the first time when they arrive and place them somewhere where they can get direct sunlight and they will blink nicely at night and it's a simple install Cheers.

Seriously... I mean it....I DID have this very idea, over 30 years ago.I even got an electronics-savvy friend make a few lil` battery-powered blinking red lights for me.They ran on 9 volt batteries. I still have one in my `88 IROC-Z Camaro.Mine operated with the flip of a tiny switch, and blinked for months off of one 9 volt.I would cut it 'On' all night, or whenever, and cut it 'Off' when it was not needed. Now I find out that I was not merely clever, but darn-near prescient and could have made a pocket of money off it....Instead, I am sitting here....typing praises for someone else! .....(sigh)Anyway; This is an excellent cheap security option, easily placed and ready to work immediately. The lil` blinking light puts the petty criminal in the position of not wanting to risk setting off the 'alarm'.SECURITY TIP: Just so you know; ANY property security measure can be beaten. The real essence of effective property security is to make YOUR property more of a potential problem to steal, so the thief will decide to go steal something else, somewhere else.....less troublesome! The Positives:This faux security alarm has a tiny switch on the side that is so small that it is hard to spot (good design!).The solar cell (a major advancement over my 9 volt battery!) will keep it charged, given sufficient sun exposure. You can also USB charge it if you do not have good solar exposure. The Flaw:The unit goes into 'Charge' mode whenever there is ambient light....which is, yes...unfortunately a flaw. The blinking light goes OUT when it is in 'Charge' mode. It is not blinking when a light is shining on it.Park in a parking deck underneath a light, and you may as well not have this at all.(That design flaw cost this 2 'star's .....for defeating it`s own purpose!)Smart design would have given this a three-way switch; 'On'-Off'-'Continuous Function', rather than basic 'On-Off'.Still....Your personal circumstances of use may obviate that design flaw, in which case; no problem.Speaking of design flaws....MY faux Security Alarm Light had to sit in A HOLE that I cut into the dashboard for the 9 volt battery to be out of sight.(So maybe I`m no genius after all, and did not miss out on a small fortune?)This unit comes with a sticky pad that adheres solidly to your dashboard surface. I do not know how well that will work-out over time, with UV exposure, and temperature/humidity shifts.Bottom Line: A neat, inexpensive security measure that you can apply within seconds.

4 Stars, just for the fact that you have a port that you could charge, but no cord, and the charge port is a USB Micro C. A cord that has been out of existence for a while. Sure that's why they went solar, which works very well. You have 3M tape to your surface, as well as an on/off switch too. Simplistic...Other than that, it does what it's intended to do, mimic a car alarm with the random red light flashing. Well, no one has broken into my older car, probably because it's OLD.Overall, you get a 2 pack and they work. Given the fact that they need the sun, the dashboard is really the only place for them, and that sort of defeats the purpose, if they can see it and not be fooled...Currently priced at $9.99 for the 2-pack. If you need to have some sort of security, but have an older car, this could work.

Affordable and will keep the car thieves guessing, anything that will deter them is a good thing. These are just an LED that blinks when its dark out, you can charge them with the older USB-Micro-B plugs and solar but better to plug them in now and again. Its very bright and noticeable at night. Units have double sided tape on both and you can stick them anywhere. Good product.

This is my review of the "ELECTOP Car Solar Power Simulated Dummy Alarm, Anti-Theft LED Flashing Security Light Fake Car Alarm, Automotive Warning Interior Safety Light with USB Charging Port, Car Accessories(Red Light, 2PCS)"The item is sold in an unsealed generic white box.I took it out and examined it and I'm not sure how good this is in order to fool a thief or to prevent your car from getting broken into but it might make a thief think twice or give him/her some hesitation before he/she attempts to break into your car for fear of an alarm sounding. The solar powered device also allows for external charging but it charges via microUSB and not USB-C. I like that it allows for external charging since I don't drive a lot and when I'm at home, my car is parked inside a basement garage which does not have a lot of light (and the lights only go on in the garage when someone is down there). For what this is, I think it is good although I would prefer that it charge externally via USB-C and not microUSB since most of my newer devices now use USB-C.At the time of my review, the item is listed for $14+tax which works out to $7+tax each (since there are 2 of these solar powered simulated dummy alarms in the box).
