I bought this for our home Christmas display, first Xmas the pump went out after about 5 minutes, sent the unit back to Elation 373.00 to ship it, waited several months, tried it out and it still was not working as advertised, so I put the nozzle on the roof about 15 feet in the air, ran the hose down the roof, made sure there no kinks, and guess what it sucks, contacted Elation they told me to turn the fan to 100% and turn the snow volume down to about 50% that did nothing, small tiny flakes no matter what combination of output or fan speed, 2 Christmases now and no snow, the cost of the unit the fluid and shipping it back for repairs I am into this for about two grand and nothing to show for it, will be calling Monday, not happy

This unit is definitely built for commercial use, although we purchased it for our home Christmas display. We wanted a snow maker with more capacity and flexibility. We are extremely happy with the product we received. Having the ability to locate the blower 30 feet away from the base unit allowed us to create a flexible location to compensate for a breeze over the location of our decorations. The interval timer allows us to dictate how often it will snow and how long in-between. We have ours set up to snow for five minutes every 15 minutes. This is a great way to stagger the amount of fluid that you have on hand. On the subject of fluid, the user manual calls for specific fluid to be used, which, unfortunately is ridiculously expensive. $30 for a gallon that doesn’t go very far. I read online to buy distilled water, rubbing alcohol, and Mr. bubbles. A 1 gallon container of distilled water with 16 ounces poured off, replaced with 8 ounces of rubbing alcohol and , 8 ounces of Mr. bubbles yields a great result. More rubbing alcohol equals drier snow, more Mr. bubbles equals thicker snow. You can tweak it a little bit to get the result you want. We have gone through many gallons of fluid leading up to Christmas and it really would not be sustainable buying this stuff at 30 bucks a gallon. One other advantage, the supplier, Elation in Los Angeles is just a phone call away for questions. I have twice talked to their knowledgeable expert (Joey) and received callbacks and text follow ups. That is a huge advantage to me versus an import where I can’t talk to anyone. In short, this unit should last years and years, and if service is ever needed, I know I it is available.
