It is beautifully sealed and smooth. However, it was not easy to build, as it did not have clear labels (front and back sticker labels) or instructions that helped with positioning. It was taken apart several times before I was able to complete it. In the process, I bowed the bottom shelf and stripped some of the screw holes. :(

I use this to hold specialty tools and jigs in my workshop. I mounted it to the wall above my workbench. I cut 3 strips of 1/2 inch plywood and glued them to the back of the cubby panels - wait 24 hours and then screw through the back panel with kitchen cabinet screws to mount into wall studs. Works awesome. Looks awesome.

I shopped around looking for quality and affordability. I found both in this piece. It was easy to put together. All the pieces were accounted for and finished nicely. The whitewash color worked great with materials already in my space. I also purchased a 162 piece block set to go into this unit. Blocks and additional materials to expand block play all fit into this unit. I am so excited for all the kids to see it tomorrow!

I was hesitant to purchase this item after I saw several ECR4Kids reviews about missing hardware, missing instructions, non-existent pilot holes, split plywood, and shipping damage. I took a chance anyway, and all turned out fine.I bought this cubby for wooden railway/toy storage in our "play area." I originally wanted the Ikea Trofast in pine with small bins, but the one I was looking at was unavailable for online purchase. I did not want anything with MDF/particle board, so this birch plywood shelf seemed like a good compromise. The item shipped via USPS from the midwest to the northeast US and arrived about ten days after purchase. The outer cardboard box looked rough, but fortunately, I only found a few minor scratches when carefully inspecting each piece. The package included all hardware, and the instructions were easy to follow. It took me about an hour to assemble with the included hex wrench and my Phillips-head screwdriver. The fit and finish are not perfect (i.e., a few raised/rough areas around a few of the cam lock screws), but overall it went together fine and feels super sturdy. I did not install the included casters, so the unit sits directly on the floor.Based on others' experiences, your mileage may vary. For me, the product met expectations. I hope this review helps some parents or teachers out there in Internet land!

Bought this bookshelf for home use of storing toys where the boys could see them. It is very sturdy and holds quite a bit of things. Highly recommend this.

Great toy shelf. Very pretty and very solid. We will have this for years and years to come, im sure. I will deff be ordering more matching shelves from this brand once we expand our toy and book collection as our daughter grows. I cant wait to have a play room filled with these awesome shelves and furniture. Well worth the price!!

I searched long and hard for the right storage solution to my large set of classroom blocks -- one that would be long-lasting, affordable for my shoestring budget, aesthetically pleasing, and sufficiently large to hold all 300+ unit blocks. IKEA's cube storage was recommended as a cheap choice, but being veneer over particleboard, seemed too flimsy. (I've seen, in other classroom settings, how these cubes sag, tilt, and crumble away over time.) Other companies specializing in furnishings for preschool classroom seemed to offer only vertically-oriented or double-sided storage for a block set of this size. But I wanted low storage suitable for young children, low enough to display a blocks, props, or books; low enough for children to use the top of the shelf as a play surface. But this particular storage cart by ECR4Kids seemed to be too perfect to be true (it helped that the photo let me imagine how it would work for blocks)! So I'm so happy to report that it has exceeded my (admittedly high) expectations. I'm loving the generous but child-scaled size, the easy-to-follow instructions and assembly, the sturdy optional casters, the simple but conscientious design (no kooky colors), the dividers, the sanded and rounded-off edges. But especially I am loving the solid birch wood. Yes, SOLID BIRCH WOOD. Even the backing is thin plywood! The backing!! Unheard of! In a world where we are increasingly accustomed to everything being melanine, particleboard, fiberboard, plastic, or whatever, it is astounding to see what a difference a good, solid hardwood can make. This is truly built for rough child's play, built to last. I have no doubt that I will be passing this down to my kids' kids, or more likely our local public schools, still in good condition. Thanks, ECR4Kids! I will look for your products the next time I'm in the market for classroom furnishings.

I looked for a long time to find shelving this size, and I couldn't be happier. It fits the space in my son's room perfectly, and he uses it to display his legos. It's nice that it's not too deep. It's very sturdy and was easy to put together. I didn't use the casters, as we don't plan to move it around, so I only wish there was an option to order it with or without the casters.
