I was a mechanic 15yrs. This thing is sturdy, I installed it alone, I’m confident it’ll carry a lot of weight but life’s too short to try 1000lb The instructions are vague so you’ll have to figure it out to some degree.

Install was not bad. I have had it over a month now and so far seem real sturdy. Scratches easy.

The instructions are not overly detailed for installing the hardware.I have a 2005 Ford F150 6'6" bed length as you might guess from the photo. Two people installing the rack to the mounts on the truck would be beneficial.I received it quickly from Amazon.

purchased Jute Rope 3/4 Inch 25 Feet Twisted Hemp Rope. Wrapped it around the front bar. The twists kill the noise vortex that forms. All of $10 to fix. Super heavy duty, great rack! I love it!

Love this racK! I assembled it rather easily with my son, but we had to guess on a few steps because the instructions weren't that clear. But that's not the point of this post. When I would reach speeds of over 10 MPH, the rack would make a terribly loud reverberating noise. After watching a YouTube video answering the question, "How do I reduce ladder rack noise?" I wrapped some nylon cord around the front bar of the rack. Now the truck rides super quiet!

Ordered this for work use for my dad and his machine shop. Below is his review on the all-round instructions, parts and assembly problems. The finished product is great, but if it wasn't for my dad owning and running his own machine shop, he never would have been able to fix some of the issues as well and as quickly as he did.1. The instructions were lacking a lot of information. If someone without mechanical skills is trying to assemble they would be lost.2. The parts list was missing a lot of detail. Without the "part pictures" the list was incomplete. Below I give a bit more detail.Item 12 has the wrong size. The description has it listed as M16x30 when it is actually M14x30.Item 13  lists 8 sets and should list 2 flat washers each for a total of 16 pieces.Item 14 lists that there are 4 bolts with nut and flat washers. Without the part list pictures you would not realize that only 2 get nuts and the other 2 do not. Also the 2 with nuts get 2 flat washers and all get spring washers that are not listed.Item 15 should list that each one gets 2 flat washers.Item 16 does not list that there are 2 different sizes of flat washers. 4 of the bolts get 2 each of the smaller flat washers while 4 of the bolts get 2 of each of the large diameter washers. That becomes more apparent during the assembly instructions but nowhere does it list that each bolt gets 2 washers.Item 17 does not list that there are 2 different size flat washers that go on each shoulder bolt. 1 fits over the shoulder part and the other over the threads.Item 18 does not list 2 flat washers each bolt and does not have the spring washer listed at all.Item 19 J-bolt does not work at all and was missing the spring washers. I tried every way possible to use these J-bolts and there was no way they were going to work. Being that we are a machine shop I eventually made 4 angle brackets in place of the J-bolts along with 1/2-13 bolts nuts and washers. There is not room for the J-bolt underneath the bed rail for the J-bolt to work. The average person trying to install this rack would not have succeeded or would have had a very unsafe installation. I can think of many alternative designs on the J-bolt that would have worked. The only other option would be to leave them out and provide the hardware to drill the bed rail and permanently mount the rack with the optional hole mounts. The instructions tell of the option but the hardware is not provided.

Coating will scuff to anything. Carefully removing from wrapping and careful assembly will lead to lot of marring. This is a work rack. It should hold up to some abuse. Its rusting EVERYWHERE. Almost instantly but now after a few months its looking a little rekt. Even on unblemished areas, they probably didn't get a good clean and coat it enough to keep it from looking mottled and popping rust. What exactly did I pay for here. I can't even paint it because its some sort of powder coat I probably couldn't match. Most everything has a specific orientation despite looking forgiving. It's not. Parts didn't mate up well, so they need some persuasion.I don't love the big dumb bolts and fibered nuts as far as form and appearance, but it works well enough. This is manufactured in China for an American company. I tried to get some replacement parts and due to shipping issues they wouldn't assist. They also couldn't order them. You buy a whole one or nothing. Most of the sales staff were clueless and really not interested, took many several attempts to get a sales person who actually hold a conversation without stopping to post on facebook. If I had to do it again.... Maybe. I don't like paying a high price for low quality, but the alternatives cost more.If the company wants to make good on all this and stand by their products. I can see removing this post. Maybe I got a lemon. A good product and company fixes their mistakes.
