The dimmer switch would randomly turn off the light and reboots everyday after the first two months.

This thing did not last. At first it was great but then there was an update and it kept rebooting. I contacted Easton and they said they knew about the issue and will push an update when they it resolved. Well the whole switch stopped working before the update came out. Will never buy again.

Had 3 of these, all of them stopped connecting with Alexa in a week, and when they lose their connectivity with Alexa, you can’t even use them as a normal switch, they fail to turn on. Its just garbage at this point!

I'd like to give Eaton an A for effort. It looks stylish and fits well within Alexa's smart home ecosystem. One thing which does not go well with the Alexa integration though is that it does not recognize the room of the Alexa device. Normally, if the Alexa device is placed in a room, you can simply say "turn on the lights" and Alexa will know which room you are in and which lights to turn on. I can configure which room the light switch is in, but not the corresponding Alexa device as part of the same light switch. A tad annoying. But more annoyingly is that this device would periodically lose connection... Perhaps about once a month. I can't say 100% it's the devices fault, but I have no other devices which lose connection like this. However, the last straw was one time when the device lost connection, normally when it loses connection, you just press the switch to turn the switch on or off. When my wife did this, it would turn on and then turn off immediately. A definitely fail in her eyes, so I had to remove the light switch. I'll likely install at my mom's house and provide an update in case we have a better experience there.

I ended up returning it and just getting a regular smart wifi dimmer. I don't know why, but while the device could hear me (blue light indicator would turn on and I could even set timers and control the light with my voice), Alexa never responded with voice (such as asking her the time or weather forecast). The only time I heard her was when she guided me through the setup and confirmed the device was ready. My best guess is that the device has issues staying connected to the wifi because it is inside a switch box in the wall surrounded by wires interfering with the signal. They may want to modify the design to better position the wifi signal receiver.

I installed this switch in my rec room so I could control the lights and other smart things. It does offer great ability to use Alexa with your voice and that was the primary reason I wanted it. But comparing it to some other smart switches and dimmers on the market it seems to be missing some features that are tables stakes now. For example, it can only be set up using Alexa app. It doesn’t have an app of its own that would usually allow one to customize its behavior. Instead they have cumbersome instructions on how to change some of the behavior using the switch itself. The way we used to do it with non-smart switches. Also, no way to do firmware upgrades, probably due to the same reason of not having an app. And also, it would be nice to be able to set a timer to auto-turn off the lights after a period of time or to change the Alexa device type from a plug to a light for example. Something that other appliances do offer.Overall I do like the functionality and having Alexa built into the wall so to say. The speaker is a quality one with a really nice sound quality for its size. It can even stream music from Amazon music through it. Which is cool.I’m rating it 3 stars because it’s missing a custom app. If they enhance it in the future I’ll update the review.

Update 07/16/21. Ordered another Eaton Voice Dimmer for a Study. Was a tough choice between this and getting a combo of the Lutron Caseta Dimmer Switch and an Echo Dot (3rd Gen) as the prices would be just about the same. This installation went smooth and the pre-linking of the Amazon account worked flawlessly this time as all (Wi-Fi and account linking) were automatically connected soon after the switch was powered up. This room didn't really need the better speaker of an Echo Dot so the Voice Dimmer is fine.Original Review. I'd give this Eaton Voice Dimmer (with Alexa) 4.5 stars, but checking off 4 stars and not rounding up to 5 stars. Would ding it for cost and the not very informative setup instructions. The Eaton Voice Dimmer seems to work as intended including the built-in Alexa. The paper instructions in the box provide 1, 3-pole and multi-location installation pictures and then basically say to use the Alexa app for setup. The video on the Eaton website provided additional information on setup.Originally had a Lutron Diva dimmer, but wanted voice and app control for canned lights in a "sitting" room. Tried a Lutron Caseta dimmer first, but for some reason, would not fully turn off the two canned ceiling lights when using the switch or the Alexa app.Happened to see the Eaton Voice Dimmer (with Alexa built-in) on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Installation into a 3-gang box was very tight. The Lutron Dimmers did not require a neutral wire, but this Eaton Voice Dimmer does. After turning off the breaker, had to pull out, but not disconnect the other 2 switches. The electrician had all the neutral wires in the back of the box (4-6 wires?) capped with a winged wire connector and was blocked by all the other wires in the box. Eventually was able to run a short wire from the group of neutrals in order to get an extension to the Voice Dimmer and connected all of the required wires (hot/line, load, neutral, ground). The dark green 3-way wire on the Voice Dimmer was just capped off since this was a single pole installation.Turned the breaker back on and the Eaton Voice Dimmer lit up sort of orange and was working manually (pressing the on off switch). At this point I did not screw in the 3 switches back into the box. The voice on the switch said something about setting up with Alexa, but without my intervention, the Voice Dimmer connected to Alexa (I think via bluetooth) and was controllable by voice (intermittently) and with the Alexa app.Noticed that when the canned lights were off, the Voice Dimmer's indicator light was red which was annoying. Also, voice commands were not really working consistently. Eventually figured out that I needed to manually re-link the Voice Dimmer to Alexa by holding down the bottom left button on the Voice Dimmer (ask Alexa button). Once the indicator light was back to orange, was able to set up using the Alexa app. What was missing initially was the connection of the switch to wifi. No more annoying red indicator light. No lights on the voice dimmer once the light is switched off. Blue indicator light when Alexa is processing a question/request.After re-doing the setup with the Alexa app, all is working fine and there are no indicator lights on when the switch is off.
