Everything works good. However the dial is hard to turn. Maybe after usage it will loosen up.

Worth note: enclosed instructions are in print only (no braille transcription provided).I’m studying UEB braille as part of a TVI endorsement program. This labeler has arguably the most important contractions (strong word signs and a some strong group signs) but does not have sh, ch, th, or prefixes dot 4, dot 5, dots 45, or dots 456. (There are probably other things, too). So, for example, I can’t use this to write email addresses or prices (as @ and $ require the dot 4 prefix). That said, it’s easier and faster than a slate and stylus, and it doesn’t require as much pressure as I expected. I’m impressed with the mechanism, just not the available braille cells.

I bought this as a gift for my sister, who is a TVI (teacher of the visually impaired). She loves it and is excited to use it next school year. She likes that it even has the contractions. My only complaint is that you need to press decently hard to emboss the label well, but I don't know how you would fix that.

I am glad I have my own labeler to help out with. It works fine and I bet it would fit standard labeler tape. The clear tape is a great option though as I can put it on labels and still see under it. It is all plastic vs my friends which was all metal. That is a price point thing I am sure.

This is easy to use and creates braille labels that are functional

This constantly cuts off little slivers of tape that get jammed in the dial, and in the cutter. This prevents it from cutting and embossing properly. If you don’t squeeze it super hard sometimes it doesn’t emboss anything. But if you do squeeze it super hard you might only get one letter or very light embossing. It almost feels as if you’re breaking the embosser just to get that.
