It arrived quickly and went together fairly easily. It spreads product evenly about 3-5 feet to the left, forward, and right (depending on the product weight and your walking speed), yielding a pattern from 6 to 10 feet wide overall. The edge guard is very effective, while not saturating that edge with product as some of the cheaper units will do.I did have one assembly issue in connecting the lower feed selection rod into the central pivot. I looked at the instructions carefully and the factory assembly video that you can find on YT. First of all, they contradicted each other on which end is which. Once I figured out the correct orientation (i.e. the only way it made sense), I still found that I needed to make more of a bend in the rod for the top connection. As received, the bend was perhaps at 80 degrees; I bent it to the full 90 (as I think was intended as is required for smooth movement). Also, with the handle extended to its middle position, the rod that connects the adjustment lever to the pivot lever is at its furthest extension when adjusted properly. That's OK, but would be better if that rod were a half inch longer. One disappointment: I'd expect proper brass bearings for the wheel axle rather than the plastic bushings supplied. The plastic bushings work, and I'll make sure to keep it lubricated to avoid wearing them prematurely, but at this price point I think that we ought to get proper brass bushings there. Anyway, have the capability to make my own if I need to.I also added extra washers and blue loctite to several of the assembly points, as I think that they would eventually loosen otherwise.I'm still giving this five stars because of the excellent performance of the spreader -- which is what really counts. It's a nice even pattern, the wheels are large and grippy, and it's lightweight for easy pushing. I can easily complete a fertilizer application on my half-acre yard in less than a half hour, with no stress or strain. Recommended.

I gave three stars not to the basic spreader but for the company's sales strategies. When I received the box and put it together, I discovered a few shortcomings. Not specifically on mine, but on the entire product line. One downside is the missing control cable and lever for the Side Spread Control. Great invention, too bad it's so hard to use. It is a very small lever that is hidden under the hopper, if one wants to use it then has to stop, go around the T handle and reach under the hopper (what is very inconvenient) to operate it. This does not seem like a difficult task, but it is tiring and time-consuming for a professional who fertilizes 10-20 gardens a day. But I noticed that this special disc that seals the pouring holes is already prepared to receive a control cable, which is not included with the already expensive fertilizer spreader. After much internet hunting, I found the original cable and control arm (not specifically for the 2150, but a very similar product) that I needed, but it was so expensive that by the time it gets here to Canada, it will be well over $100 CAD due to shipping costs. I reached a similar conclusion with the hopper cover, which was also not included. So these two important accessories make the originally $500 spreader almost $700 (CAD).I emailed to the manufacturer, but their response did not satisfy me at all, as they offered no solution, they claimed that there was no SSC specifically for this model, and the plastic cover was "only" $52 CAD from a parts dealer (plus shipping). In short, since the spreader would be very expensive, I was forced to take matters into my own hands. I found a lawnmower throttle regulator on Amazon.ca for $25 CAD (with shipping) and a hopper cover for another company's product on Amazon.com, also for a 50 pound hopper, but only $32 CAD with shipping. I attached photo with the installed SSC controller and cover.I recommend anyone interested in these two parts to shop at these two places and I strongly suggest that Earthway review their sales strategy and put the interests of their customers first, not just their own profits.

When the spreader arrived it was partly pre-assembled which was great but upon assembling the rest it was discovered that the pre-assembled part was put on the wrong side. Once we figured that out we were able to complete assembly. Has been used twice so far and it works great. Hopefully it will last for years to come as it was pricey.

This spreader is built heavy duty commercial. This has a wider spread pattern but the good thing is that you can narrow the spread on one side to keep the seed out of the garden and off of the driveway. Has a very smooth movement to it. I takes for effort to push it up a hill but is still for more rewarding to use than the cheaper alternative. The great thing is that the push handle has three different lengths that you can change with its bolts. Works best if you only fill it to half ways up on the bucket but don't worry, this bucket holds a lot even at half full. A very well made pro machine.

Now that I have finally got this spreader properly assembled, it is well constructed and works as advertized in my yard which has quite a slope and a number of protruding tree roots (which the rubber wheels handle quite easily when compared to my last general purpose spreader that had smaller plastic hollow wheels). I am still trying to understand the spreader settings and how this relates to its delivery rate (I used way too much fertilizer on my first application when using the setting that was prescribed to deliver the fertilizer rate shown on my fertilizer bag). The application for the second bag of fertilizer I purchased to complete my yard went much better as the reduced spreader setting I used was much closer to the application rate that was recommended by the fertilizer vendor. One very positive benefit is given the wider coverage of this spreader, I think I will spend about 1/2 to 2/3 of the time that I used to spend on fertilizing my lawn with my previous spreader. This product really should offer a option of a fully assembled delivery, as I would gladly pay $50.00 extra so as not to have to deal with installation instructions provided. I expect this spreader will last a long time and now that I better understand the proper spreader setting for the fertilizer I am using, I expect that I will be very satisfied with this purchase as the pain of the installation slowly fades from memory.

This broadcast spreader worked great. I owned a Scotts spreader before this EarthWay and the Scotts spreader does not even compare to the Earthway. You get what you pay for. The Earthway spreader is kind of expensive but it should last me a lifetime. Good quality. The job goes faster due to it spreads out the fertilizer farther. The spreader applied the fertilizer real evenly. Plus it has a wide coverage area. Maybe 9 feet wide. It depends on what you are putting down. The spreader is so comfortable. The handle is nice and long so I don't have to bend over. My Scotts spreader the handle was to short , so I had to bend over to use it and this hurt my back. Tip: The handle has several holes settings to make it longer. If you are under 6' tall the standard holes are fine.Another feature I just love is it has a temporary screen you put on top of the spreader to catch large chunks of fertilizer that got wet and stuck together. The screen catches it . Then you can take the chunks that are stuck together and rub them across the screen with your hand to crumble them up so they can go out your spreader evenly. What a great feature. Your spreader will not send out large chunks of stuck together fertilizer.I also like the control rod assemble that adjust the amount of fertilizer you are applying. . Its a metal rod. This should last forever. My Scotts spreader had a cable instead of the steel rod and over the years the cable stretched making it inaccurate to set your spreader rate.It also has air in the tires to make it a smooth push over a bumpy yard. The wheels are plastic. Maybe that's good because they will not rust.I like this Earthway spreader so much I would buy another one.Cons:1) I think the instructions are kind of hard to follow. It took me maybe 2 1/2 hours to put together. Tip: read all the instructions first before assembly. This gives you a good idea of how it will look when done. My suggestion is Earthway should put a video on Google You Tube to show how to put it together. Tip: I did find a similar EarthWay spreader video on You Tube on how to assemble it. . Type in EarthWay Ev-N-Spred Heavy Duty Professional Spreaders. Another company made a video on how to assemble the spreader. Its a 12 minute video. The video is not the same exact Earthway spreader 2150 , but its close. The only difference in the one on the You Tube video is the way the Pivot Bracket mounts. The pivot bracket mounts on the outside of the handle on the Earthway 2150 . . The one in the video they show it mounting on the inside of the handle. The handle is slightly different on the You Tube video. But 90 % of the rest of it is the same thing. This video really makes the assembly easier. Earthway should put videos on Google You Tube. One picture is worth 1,000 words.2) The only other thing that kind of bothered me is the manufacturers of fertilizers do not put EarthWay spreader rates on there bags. Earthway gives you some formulas you have to use. You will need to no how much square feet you have, then use there formulas. It was pretty close on the on information they gave me. You just have to do some math before using the spreader. I always like to set it at a lower setting to make sure I don't run out of fertilizer. If you have some left over you can always go back over it at a lower rate .
