I've used this a few times, and it has made my log cutting much faster. Now I can do bucking with just a couple of moves with this Peavey lifter rather than having to slide cut pieces under the log that I'm cutting. The handle is substantial and the whole thing feels rugged. So far it has worked like a champ.

I don’t know if it would work on a 20-inch diameter log, but for the 12-15 inch ones I’ve been working with, this is great.

Really good build quality. Heavy gauge steel and a nice thick hardwood handle. This tool will be used by your great grandkids. The log stand sits a little loosely in its bracket even after the bolts have been tightened down, but this may be on purpose.

Very dull hook tip out of the box. Used a 4 inch grinder. Works best for smaller logs, under 14 inches .had to bang hook in to work with larger logs. Lifts well. Works better for rolling with lift removed. I like it.

I purchased this timberjack with a bit of concern looking at the reviews but was surprised when it arrived in a very good way. It, as some have stated, has a very thick base. 3" in diameter I would guess and is very heavy duty in my opinion. I did not use the stand on the timberjack opting to go without. Having cut logs on the ground before I see no need to lift the log up. This is inefficient and doesn't buy you any safety in terms of cutting. I first used it to clear a guys lot of trees he cut down for a new garage. Large group of poplar and ash. Some of the logs were in excess of 18" in diameter. According to the instructions it is designed for a 14" log (I believe, I don't have the instructions in front of me anymore) but it worked on my 22" logs no problem. The largest I rolled was 22" by 8' long and it didn't have an issue. I doubt it would go any bigger. 24" might be pushing it with the jaws. The handle was more than able to turn the 8' length and I believe it would have rolled the full 16' length had I tried (and not cut it in two) but I didn't want to abuse the tool more than I had too. I made my measured cuts using an 18" bar. Cut into the log halfway along the length. Then rolled the log and finished the cut. Kept my blade from ground contact, which is what I wanted, and made the process easy. I would recommend to anyone cutting firewood for occasional use. I use my fireplace all weekend long every weekend and pulled 4 cords of wood when I purchased this tool. It handled the task. No problems.

Ordered 2 of these, right ot the box i easily could've rated them a full five stars. The handles are huge, much larger diameter than your everyday spade or rake. Decent powder coat finish over the metal offers a good looking finished product. Assembly takes just a minute or so: 2 pieces attached with a pair of bolts & nylock nuts. First impression: I'm sold, these may be one of the best tool purchases I've made this summer, not an easy feat considering some of the other toys I've recently picked up. So let's put these to work and really see.Rolling and moving a couple smaller hemlock trees (under 10inch diameter & 50 ft, no branches) goes well, everything seems to say these are worth every penny. But then we step up to a downed paper birch with about 12 inch diameter & maybe 30 feet in length, the lower half of it still standing.Immediately upon applying pressure to roll this log there's a pair of loud pops: broke the new toy in under an hour. Not a record but not acceptable either.Attached are pictures showing the metal used is just not the right material for this tool.Im not sorry i purchased these: one's still in great condition, and the broken one is still good for helping roll logs around at least. As much as i want to, it's very difficult to recommend this tool because it really is made that poorly. The design could be great, but the tool is almost guaranteed to fail. The low price looks good here, but what'll it cost if it gives out at the wrong time? When it comes down to it, you're looking at a tool that you need to trust in unison with a chainsaw. If you're only dealing with smaller, lighter logs than this may be perfect for you. I'll continue to use them to roll logs around, but not to elevate them for cutting, i just don't trust them at all.

This is a great product! I was worried that the combination metal-wood build of the thing, might be weak. Not to worry! This thing's a beast, a brute. Yet it's very nice to work with - the handle is not splintery and is actually a joy to hold and work with.I'm a big guy (6'3") and strong - I'm used to moving logs around, which I've always done just by hand, without a tool like this one. This tool enables me to lift logs I never could consider lifting, before.Another review complained about the sharpness of the metal tooth that bites into the log (the on on the hinged curvy piece). It's true, there were some times I'd have liked it to "bite" just a little better. A few strokes of a file solves that problem. I wouldn't want them to sharpen it in the factory, though - the enamel you get on this tool does protect against rust.Recommend!
