This is high quality, long-sized fiber, clean moss. I got about 4 gallons after semi-hydrating the 10 oz package.The smell is that of a PNW after a heavy summer rain.I've purchased other moss that was similarly rated on Amazon, and it was horrible. Tiny, bits, brown, putrid smelling, and it was filled with strips of plastic.By comparison, this moss here is a definitive 5 stars from me. It should work amazing for my climbing epiphytes and for propagation of many plants.It retains moisture without being soggy.

I have many orchids and I use this forest moss for potting my orchids. This stuff is amazing. It starts out as a compact brick. Separate a piece into layers depending on how much you need, soak it for 1 min and 30 seconds and it will have triples or quadrupled in size. It seems expensive but for the way it plumps up, itβs worth it. You get a lot more product than youβd expect. I highly recommend this to those who keep orchids or for anyone who enjoys potting plants. This stuff retains a lot of moisture.

I 'reconstituted' the moss with water outside; there was no smell there or when I brought it in. When reconstituted, the moss was in good-sized pieces, which was perfect for my table arrangements. The package looked small but filled in 2 medium platters for Fall arrangements. Before reconstituting, I added maybe 6 drops of green artists' ink which increased the 'green hue' of the moss. Perhaps green food coloring would do the same. Also, the Duspro folks sent a lovely hand-written note in the package --- they run a small family-run business and really appreciate their customers.

I soaked the 5 oz package in water in a 13x9β pan for about 30-40 minutes and it expanded to fill almost the whole pan. The directions say to soak it for a few minutes, but I let it soak until it wouldnβt absorb any more water. I let the excess water drain and it was very easy to separate and work with. I used it to generously top the dirt in five 6β pots and two 12β pots with houseplants. This is real moss with varying natural colors from green to brown. For those reviewers who stated it was not much moss and that it was hard to work with, I would say maybe they didnβt soak it to let it expand first. And for those who said it smells bad, I would question if they have ever walked in damp woods that have moss! This moss has a natural, earthy smell that is exactly what it should be and smells like a forest. Once I placed it around my houseplants I never noticed any smell in my house from it. The thank you note in the package was also a nice touch.

The product seems like good quality, long fibers, very colorful. Not sure if I got a bad batch, but it has stunk up my whole house. I used it to pot some orchids, and after every watering, the room is filled with a really foul wet dog smell, some have described it as fishy. Since I really liked the look of it, I tried to clean it. I soaked it for 30 minutes in water with white vinegar, strained rinsed, repeated three or four times. It still smells, but not as bad. Iβm going to give it a couple weeks to see if this smell dissipates.

This stuff is amazing!!! I regret every moss I ever bought before I found this!! Iβm a flower farmer and make winter bulb arrangements, and the color is beautiful, very natural and not the fake looking bright green stuff. Also, it comes in this tiny vacuumed container, but when you soak it in warm water it explodes and fills your whole sink! A lot of bang for your buck!! Highly recommend!!!

I often struggle to find Moss for my Worm Farms, my usual source being the store that claims,"You Can Do It".Sadly of late, I have been "Unable To Do It" through their failure to keep a stock of the product.Therefore this was a blessing from Heaven, swiftly despatched and subsequently received.The Moss is absolutely brilliant.

So fluffy. Mixed brown and green. Really really fresh moss. It really feels fresh and beautiful. I use it for begonia propagation and itβs really fabulous! I canβt get enough of it. It smells like a Forrest floor. No debris, no dirt. Obviously very carefully harvested. I love it for my plants because in for a plant to root it should be a clean environment. This moss has not been treated with chemicals or anything itβs a great option.
