First released in 1981, Tortex® Picks were originally intended to be a high quality replacement for tortoiseshell. Jim Dunlop's trail-blazing creation became so much more than that, however, establishing its own identity and becoming the new standard by which all other picks are judged. Building on the precision, consistency, and color-coded gauge system he introduced with Nylon Picks, Jim resolved to create a pick with a bright and snappy attack, superior memory and durability, and an improved grip. He chose Delrin as his base material and then spent more than a year developing a special treatment process to draw out its full potential. This treatment process is what sets Tortex Picks apart from all others, providing their unique grip-enhancing matte surface and aggressive attack. Finally, Jim expanded on his previous picks' color-coded gauge system to create the bright and timeless palette that has become an industry standard. Because we stick to Jim's original formula, Tortex Picks remain our bestselling pick line. And we still make them at the Dunlop HQ in Benicia, California. With Tortex, Jim Dunlop launched a revolution, and the world of picks has never been the same. The turtle logo is instantly recognizable, and the vibrant Tortex palette has become a gauging shorthand for guitar players. Go into any music store and ask for Green or Yellow Picks—chances are, you'll be shown a pack of Tortex .88mm or .73mm Picks. Countless musicians across the world, representing every genre and playing style, have chosen Tortex Picks to help them do what they love. Made in the USA.

Great feeling hard pick for aggressive players that need a fast pick that doesn't bend. My go-to plectrum. They last practically forever, too.

No complaints whatsoever. I got these for my acoustic guitar, along with some 1.35mm and 1.14mm size picks for my electrics. These are far and away my favorite style of pick. Easy to hold, perfect for any style of play, I recommend these to everyone I know who plays guitar.

I love the feel and how it slides over the strings so effortlessly. I only wish it had some raised texturing like the other Jazz 3s or the Primegrip Delrin 500 (black pick in picture). Yes, I'm picky! :-) I drilled 2 3/16" holes in mine to keep them from turning and slipping from my hand. These are now my main go to when I want a warmer, softer picking tone. They wear very well, never flash like nylon and you get a lot in a pack. The sharp Jazz 3 tip gives it the precision I like. I prefer the XL size as the regular Jazz 3 still feels small to me. The 1.5mm is stiff enough. For a sharper pick tone, my favorite is the Ultex Jazz 3 XL, pictured on the left which already includes the raised texturing I like

I've been a pro guitar player forever, and I've gone through about a billion picks, from the jazz size (25mm long, I used for a long time) to the standard size (31mm long), and plenty of different gauges and types of materials. These are about 29mm long, and for me the perfect length and material. Very grippy . . .UPDATE: After maybe a year of gigging/practicing with these purple 1.14's, they're still (in my opinion) the PERFECT pick!

I've used Tortex picks for over 20yrs. The Yellow(.73) has been my go to for a while, as it gave me the stiffness I needed to solo, and the flexibility I needed to strum well Just a great all round pick. I tried the Jazz III picks, and though I liked the speed and precision, found them them to be a little small for my big paws. Enter the Jaz III XL. I love them.Took a bit of getting used to after using a larger pick for 20+yrs, but after about a week, my old picks now feel clunky in my hands. Love the speed and precision these offer, while still giving me the grip I need. I play 3+ hours per day, and in the month since I've had them, the one pick I've used the entire time is showing very little wear. So they have great memory along with just being a great pick overall.

Was on a bit of a search for the pick of my dreams. landed on this as the right combination of thickness, material, and shape. For me, the sharper point makes for greater accuracy - like a traditional jazz pick but this is larger for an easier grip.Picks are inexpensive and it is worth trying several types to find what works for you. For me, this has become the go to pick for most situations.
