This looked like a good idea and I will say that it's pretty well made and the key keeps stays in place on the tension rod, but the actual function of the product didn't work out. I've seen other dampeners that offer an "on/off" reaction when you strike the drumhead, but the problem I had with this is that it flutters and becomes more of a "drum roll" ghost note instead of staying flat and simply dampening the hit when you strike the drum. The buyer has the option of adding more weight to the existing product, which might inhibit this reaction (which is kind of a cool effect), but as-is, it misses the mark as a dampener. Maybe I'll try adding weight (more washers) and will update this review if it keeps the pad on the head.

This might work well if you're using brushes....stick on head makes the weight bounce creating rebound hits...not ideal for stick usage.
