The product description was what I was wanting and was actually what I received. Shipment was next day. This worked great as we had a delivery of firewood delivered the next day. The meter arrived in plenty of time for us to use it and it works accurately. We'd received 2 other cords of wood just last month the were advertised as dry but weren't. We used the meter to test the previous cords, and the meter showed that it wasn't dry. If we had used this meter we would not have been taken for almost $1,000.00 for wet firewood. Thank you for an honest and fast order.

I had an issue with this item and contacted the company about it.Customer service representative resolved the issue and did it quickly. This item is not on the high end, price wise in the category, but is okay and useable. The customer service was on the high end, grades an A+ and I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

You will need a degree in engineering to figure out how it works

Easily determine what wood to burn at any time.We live in the woods where humidity tends to be a little higher than usual. We've been burning wood for years for winter heat and summer recreation. It's always a challenge trying to determine what wood to use from my stack. Time drying is not always a good indicator. This device takes out the guess work. The fire in this pic was easily lit less than two minutes prior to the snap. I lit it using waste paper, a grill liter, kindlining, and about one ounce of lighter fluid. It lit right up.The operation of the meter is pretty intuitive and less than a 3 minute read if you can't figure it out. This winter we will have much higher BTUs of heat and far less creosote in our chimney.

I’m not a pro and just needed an indication for levels of moisture to help track the source so this has been helpful. I selected this particular meter because it’s a pin and pinless model. I didn’t want to purchase 2 items. Also the cost was a factor since I’m not a professional contractor. It gives me a better understanding of what a contractor might tell me when they come out to do anything and I can give them more info ahead of time. As for accuracy of the readings, I can’t really say at this point since I don’t have a known good device to compare with.My only question is determining which mode is more appropriate. I just got this device so I’ve not had a chance to look into instruction details. (YouTube) the instructions that come with are very minimal. I did try it out and confirmed my suspicions so that’s good I guess. So as a homeowner, this is a good item to have on hand.

Took me a bit to figure out, has great readability, design is great, functionality is easy and good, battery so far has been great and seems to do well in a humidity type environment.

I had a leak in my house that damaged a 6x10 foot area of hardwood floor. This "Dr.meter" Wood Moisture Meter helped me pinpoint all the water under the floor, so I could tell how many boards to pull up. It's as easy to use as a stud-finder.I had a water remediation company come out, so I compared the Dr.meter to their $650 ProtiMeter SurveyMaster, and the results were essentially identical. The only shortcoming was that this only has a 0% - 35% reading for hardwood floors, versus the ProtiMeter's 0001-9999 relative readings; but it really didn't matter for real-life use. My undamaged hardwood floors measured 7% - 11% moisture content, and the slightly damp areas measured about 12% - 20%, and the wet moldy areas measured about 21% - 35%. I marked the bad areas with blue painter's tape, then started pulling up the flooring. Once I pulled the boards up, I could easily see the water staining on the sub-floor, which matched my tape marks, proving that the meter accurately found all the wet damaged areas! It worked equally well for drywall; the meter showed no water got into my walls. The water remediation company pulled out the drywall anyway, just in case, but it turns out that the meter was correct. If they had just pulled the bottom two inches of drywall, we could have easily patched it and covered the area with baseboard, but now I need a contractor to rebuild my walls, as well as the floor.Note that the pins only measure as far as you can press them into the wood (or sheetrock, or carpet), so if the top side of the wood is dry, the pins probably won't measure any moisture. The "pinless" (wireless) measurement is much better for finding hidden water between the floorboards and the subfloor (or drywall), but it can only read water down to about 0.8 inches, so it won't see really deep damage in studs or floor joists. There are more expensive detectors that can detect water up to 4 inches down.I discovered that even the industrial dehumidifiers and fans from the water remediation company can only dry surface moisture and carpets; once water gets underneath floorboards you really have no choice but to rip it up. Having a moisture meter really helps determine the extent of the damage before you start any demolition. Overall, an inexpensive but really handy tool that every homeowner should have!

Likes: SUPER fast and easy for measuring wood water content. My old tool had two pins you had to drive into the wood pretty hard to get the reading. This tool has two ways to measure, 1) the pins, and 2) the real value, allows one to simply put the back of the tool against the item to be "measured for moisture" (the end of a log in my case) and quickly get a reading. No need to drive pins! I can go through a stack of wood in practically seconds to locate the more seasoned logs. It's awesome! And, if I ever need to check drywall or masonry, I won't need to do any damage to the wall (like one would if you had to drive the pins into the wall) to get a measurement.Dislike: It defaults to "drywall" every time you turn it on rather than staying with whatever setting it was set at when turned off. As I use it to measure hardwood, I have to cycle through the choices to get to hardwood every time I turn it on. Not a big deal but, something they could easily fix.

Seems relatively accurate. Identified some damp areas in my caravan. Like the ability to use the device without poking pins into decorated surfaces. The backlight and hold function is good for using in poorly lit areas.
