I needed this in order to repair my leather car seat. It was substantially cheaper than going to a leather repair place and having them fix my seat. DYI does take a little longer because there's a big difference between sewing Fabric and sewing leather.

Sewed through a canvas tent with multiple layers and it worked just fine. All the needles held up. Used to sew in a stove jack for a wood stove.

I guess the upholstery fabric I was sewing was too tough for these needles, as two of them broke. Others worked fine on lighter materials.

I needed to fix a poorly accessible seam on my couch. The good news is, these day it is easy to get very detailed instructions on both how to do this work yourself, and on which tools to buy. The bad news is that there are still some surprising challenges (see below). To be on the safe side, I bought an assortment of needles. For my application, the curved needles were the most appropriate tool. And I found there isn't really much of a difference in the . So, buy whatever is cheapest; they are all very similar. I also discovered that these needles are a lot more brittle than normal sewing needles. When working with leather, you often push the needle through the existing holes in the leather and you then use to pull the needle through all the way. I discovered the hard way, that even the slightest off-angle pulling can break the needle. So, my strong advice is to order multiple sets of needles! It'll save a lot of stress. Also, for a proper saddle stitch, you'll need to use two needles at all times. So, you should order at least three or four sets of needles to have enough. A good description on how to do saddle stitches is in this video: https://youtu.be/Y0EL7K2NhYs?t=4042Also, remember to order the correct type of thread. Waxed polyester thread works best (as discussed here: https://youtu.be/Y0EL7K2NhYs?t=465). I had good luck with , but is apparently another excellent choice for this application. It should be noted that locking this type of thread on the needle uses a somewhat unusual technique: https://youtu.be/Y0EL7K2NhYs?t=1013I found that even when using the curved needles, it required a lot of dexterity and strength to get the thread through the existing holes. And in order to get a neat seam, I had to pull the thread really tight after each stitch. So, fixing a two-inch tear took me about an hour of work. With practice, this should get better, but I hope my couch won't give me any opportunity to practice more any time soon. Overall, the results look great though. Can't tell a difference from the factory-sewn stitches.

Nice price even though one had a broken eye on arrival. Fortunately I already had the size and could replace it.

7 needles! What can I say, when you need a needle, you'd better have one and not go looking in a Hay Stack! These are great and varity of sizes will take care of most jobs. They are strong and I recommend them. Good service and price.

I had similar set years ago I used to sew tent peg loops back on tent. Needed something I could get grip with pliers to pull needle through heavy fabric. Bought these as replacement for heavy sewing on outdoor's man clothing, bags, etc. Like having a variety of shapes and sizes you get with this kit. Had to also buy one for my wife who saw mine and coveted it. She wanted it to resew her key chain puff back on. Needed curved needles to get into puff material and be able to pull out to tie to key ring coil. Sure she'll find other crafty projects for it too.
