Is it silly to be excited about darning needles? Well I think not. I have been looking for sharp darning needles for my knitting projects. Everything I was able to find up to this point were blunt needles. These needles are perfect for my sock knitting.

I liked that there are varying sizes of needles, as you might be fixing socks with a fine weave or a sweater that has bigger threads. This was a good assortment.I decided to get rid off all my cheap cotton socks and replace them with Merino wool socks which are $20 - $50 per pair. At that price, I need to learn how to fix them! I bought this and learned how to darn, extending the life of my very expensive socks.Darning is difficult when there is already a hole, as you are having to re-create the missing area by weaving the thread back and forth across the void. I don't want to do that again! In the future I will darn when there starts to be a thin spot in the sock, the way it looks before the hole appears. If you darn the thinning part of the sock it is easier, as you are just reinforcing rather than using your thread to create sock in the void of a hole.

Nice selection of sizes. Sharp. Big eyes. Very strong. Just what I wanted. Dritz is still a name to trust.

The needles work for darning and have a generous sized eye for threading wool darning thread. But they are pretty thick an not that sharp so that I end up using only the smallest of these needles for socks.

Updated package but has the same needles & quantity as the Amazon listing. Worked great when I used them on repairs. It was a good value.

This product works perfectly! I've used them to sew yarn onto plush dolls for hair and I've used the smallest one for embroidery. While they aren't intended for embroidery, they work great for me.

I needed a needle large enough to use to loop back the threads from my serger. The largest of these needles is perfect. Several sizes are perfect, but the largest is easiest to use with wooly nylon threads. The needles are thick, which makes them durable. I'd broken two other large needles before I got these. I don't anticipate these breaking because of the thickness of the material. The eye is nice and big--large enough to easily thread four needles through. When I have a tight serged stitch, it can be tough to push the big needle through because it's so big, but that's something I can live with because of the other great benefits.
