I like to have an idea of wind direction to see if my chickens have access to windbreaks and the lee side of what they need for protection. This owl weathervane tracks pretty well, I can't see the vanes at a distance as well as I would with a windsock, but it rotates well and is good-looking. Assembly only took a minute or two.Mounting it on a pipe with a clamp worked well, using a compass to get the alignment to north lined up. It would be easier to fix in place with a locking washer as well as the provided nuts and bolts, which when I tightened tended to knock the orientation off due north.
