DR NEONs are super bright color coated strings that sound clear, bright and musical. Players love the bright NEON colors and their remarkable sound. Super bright in daylight and under stage lighting, DR NEON is 100% black light reactive and glow strongly under UV lighting. NEONs are the first coated string to make no apologies. While Neon's last as long as a coated string should (three to four times as long as uncoated strings) they sound as good, or better, than uncoated strings.

Looks great and sounds good but the color comes off after playing for a while.

After less than an hour of use, the coating is flaking off onto the guitar. The strings feel terrible, like already used strings, and they have zero resonance.

If you play DR strings you get it. They’re just good. End of story.

very pleased with these strings, they almost resemble old fender strings, quite bright... in sound

These strings look really cool on my guitar. However, they're only coated with the neon coloring and it comes off fairly easy. Also, the strings started to hurt my fingers after awhile.

strings are awesome, the tone and bendyness work for me. This is my second set and so far color has stayed on them as well as could be expected. Those other peeps must have got a bad batch or something cause my other set of green are still glowing strong so. About the only gripe i have is with the packaging. I know save the planet thing, i can live with the 2 strings in one pouch but barely at least put them like 1-2 3-4 5-6. some people arnt paying attention ALL the time right? Anyway, to recap... Great strings, lousey package.

The Blue coating starts to peel immediately. The strings sound ok but the peeling is annoying. I will not be buying these again.

The strings were not in the correct t Guage envelopes when I opened them. Had to lay them all out to figure which string was which. Just a minor inconvenience.

Guys (and gals), I had expectations that these would be decent strings. They’re made by DR, who has a solid reputation as a string manufacturer, not to mention the price per set. They were pretty high for string cost standards, so I thought “they can’t be too bad, right?”. When I first put them on my PRS (for a Halloween party so they glow under black light), I first noticed the feel of the strings. They had a sort of “cakey” stuff feel (likely due to the coating) which was immediately off putting. For me, I like to be able to feel the strings on my fingers, so it was hard to be happy about them feeling like they were made of plastic. The second issue came upon tune up. These things did NOT stay in tune! No matter how much stretching I did on them, they would pop out on the slightest of bends. Again, likely due to the coating and it causing sticking at the nut. The third strike for me was, within not even a full day, the coating started to chip off of the strings over the pickups (where your pick attack would normally be). No gig time, no real play time. Just tuning and stretching and already the strings have this color coating crap falling off of them?To summarize, if you’re looking for novelty strings (clearly what these ultimately are), put em on and glow away! But if you’re planning on gigging with them or making them something you plan on putting on as a standard string style, save your money! You can get a coupe of sets of Dean Markley, D’Addario or even regular DR strings for your hard earned cash!
