Was getting p0401 EGF flow insufficient4th gen Camrys were luckily very popular so there are a lot of resources for fixing them.Did some testing with a vacuum pump and narrowed down the code to this part. It can be this, the vacuum modulator, or the EGR valve itself. You can test to eliminate the other two and confirm it's this part. The other parts will indicate failure via vacuum tests, if they function normally, replace this VSV.Unfortunately, this is the most difficult part to get to/replace. I wasn't able to get it unbolted with the sockets or wrenches I have, so I disconnected the connector/hoses and relocated the new one.If yours is a 2000 (Maybe 2001 as well) read this:For my model year, it's very hard to relocate to the upper part of the engine by the other EGR components. The electrical connector for the VSV is harnessed together with two grounds and another connector that won't reach their mount points anymore if you relocate the VSV to the top of the engine. The harness was very tight so I didn't want to try cutting the outer sleeving and risk severing/damaging a wire.Luckily there's another mount point under the engine that is easy to get to and has a free bolt. The bracket that the two wrapped EVAP hoses for the VSV clip into. I accidentally broke the clip while trying to pull the hoses up and realized it would be the perfect place to remount the VSV after trying the other location. You can just remove the connector and hoses from the original VSV, remove the bracket the hoses clip into, and use the bolt to mount the VSV with the included bracket and reconnect the connector/hoses to the new VSV.The ground connections were very hard to bolt back in, this avoids having to remove them or the other connector and trying to remove the sleeving for the wire harness. This new VSV cleared my code and is now in a much easier location to access if it needs to be replaced in the future. The new mount point also has more air space around it, so hopefully the VSV won't get as hot and fail again.

Bought it in pair with EGR Vacuum Modulator to clear code P401 on my 1999-2000 Toyota Camry. Worked perfect. Code cleared (more than 200km already driven). Passed AirClean test. Super fast shipping even for free. One advice. This part is originally VERY hard to access (low back of the engine), so leave the old part where it is. Just carefully unplug hoses and el.plug. - then it's easy to re-position to a better location. Then attach new part to the fire wall & re-plug hoses & el.plug. Saved hundreds of $$. For the cost of just HSTax that I would pay on original Toyota part alone.

Put it on my 2000 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl and it fixed my EGR low flow code. Sure it was difficult to get the old one off but once you find out where to put your hands and arm through it's not as bad. I cleaned my EGR, replaced the modulator which was bad and still had the code so the last culprit was this VSV. The mount is a little different from the original part but I put it on very easily and it worked perfectly. Very happy with the price and quality of the part.

Worked fine with smaller bracket. It's hard to get to the bolt that holds the old one on. If your remove passenger side tire your can see the valve and bracket I put a 12mm socket on the bolt and then got under the car and put the ratchet with an extension on to the socket it's very tight fit in there I put my arm between the powersteering hose and fire wall and was able to break the short screw loose then just hand loosened it from the passenger side and put the new one hand tight and tightened it down from underneath. Hope this fixes my Evap code if not going to have to pull egr valve and clean it out.

This vacuum switch works perfectly on a 97 camry 4 cylinder. The only thing different about it and an OEM part is that the mounting bracket is a little shorter but installation is doable. You just have to live with that one small detail and considering that you don't have to mount this VSV in the same location anyways, there is absolutely NO problem with this product at all. As soon as i turned on my car after installing this switch valve, the engine light turned off due to the P0401 code. Pretty fabulous. Just a heads up though, I cleaned my EGR valve during the same time under the hood. Check out both the EGR and VSV if you are getting that P0401 code

I used this to replace the aged EGR VSV on my '97 RAV4 AWD 4-door. While it's a nightmare part to get to on this model, at least this replacement was inexpensive. This part fit fine in my model RAV4 and appears to be functioning fine since the check engine light that I kept receiving was due to the EGR Modulator (see below) and has since been smogged and passed with flying colors. On a side note, I put this in hoping to clear the dreaded P0401 code. It took me hours to unhook the old part and re-route cabling to this unit, which I mounted on the firewall across from the engine.. However, after all of the work the code was not due to this part after all! It was actually the EGR Modulator which needed to be replaced, a cheaper and much easier replacement! If you are reading this review because you are getting the same code, do yourself a favor and REPLACE THE EGR MODULATOR FIRST!I'm glad I got this part anyway since the old EGR wasn't in very good condition, but if you are not sure which part of the EGR system is failing, make sure you replace the EGR Modulator first since it's the easier part to replace. I was able to get mine shipped for about $20 on eBay and again I have since passed my smog check after replacing that part and driving a couple hundred miles since replacement.

I got a check engine light on my 2000 Toyota Camry CE. I hooked up my ODB scanner, and found out that the code was P0401 (insufficient EGR flow). I installed this EGR VSV, and the problem's been solved (no check engine light for the past 3,000 miles and several months). There are some things you should know: The EGR VSV is on the back of the engine, and it's a little hard to get to. Make sure to take off the passenger-side wheel, and get ready to hug some car parts. You won't be able to get a good look at the EGR VSV, but you can feel it pretty well. The original Toyota EGR VSV is on a bracket that's longer than the one on this one. You can't reuse the Toyota bracket (because of Dorman's design). And the shorter bracket does make it a little harder to install, but I don't think it'll ever cause any problems.Make sure you rule out other things like the vacuum modulator, the EGR valve itself, or a cracked vacuum hose. Search the forums online for ways to test these.
