Check engine light code pointed to EGR on my 2008 Ram 1500 5.7L Bighorn. Was an easy swap without having to remove anything like I saw in YouTube videos. I would highly recommend a cordless ratchet and an extension.

I am not a handy guy. I had a check engine light on and discovered this was the issue. Ordered the part and used youtube to learn how to install. Didn't take long at all to install and it fixed my issue.

For years I was dealing with this surging power under slow acceleration and when you let off the gas it has a huge drop in rpm and sometimes would even die. I replaced all sorts of sensors with new NGK sensors trying to diagnose it. Thankfully I made some posts about this issue which is very common I’ve found out and got a response from a kind guy that said to unplug the egr valve and go for a test drive, if it stops the surging and dying that’s the issue. Thank the lord because it was because I love driving this truck and this issue had been ruining all the enjoyment of driving it and cruising so I left it unplugged so I could drive in the meantime and ordered this immediately. It was in perfect condition and I installed it quickly, take the coolant jug out for loads more room and I recommend kroil or wd40 or any penetrating oil at all on all the bolts but especially the exhaust tube bolts because they seize easy and will snap in a heartbeat otherwise without something to loosen it up. Popped the new one in with the new gaskets but NOT the bolts they’re junk and plugged it back up, and now I can get back to truly enjoying driving this truck!

Defective. With how difficult it is to disassemble and install this part on my Jeep (GC 5.7L), it had better work the first time. The part was defective out of the box, causing a half dozen false error codes and requiring a tow as the vehicle was forced into limp-home mode. I did my due diligence with a voltmeter to test it before installing it. Within two days of installing it, it failed.I didnt return the part, because whats the point. After all was said and done, the EGR replacement ended up costing me about $350 (including the $30 or whatever for this part, and $50 for the new part). That does NOT include the labor to disassemble and reassemble to remove the part and replace it (Although it is MUCH faster the second time). I would have been MUCH better off with an OEM part originally.I own dorman shares, as I think it is an otherwise good company. But I will not be buying any critical engine parts from them again.

EASY TO PUT ON. BEFORE I PUT THIS ON, I TOOK BOTH BATT. CABLES OFF FOR 1/2 AN HOUR OR MORE. WHEN I WAS DONE INSTALLING , I REHOOK THE BATT CABLES AND MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. GOOD DEAL .
