This automotive radiator drain plug not only surpassed the quality of the original part, but it was easy to install and it sealed perfectly. It also arrived quickly and packaged securely.

I keep 2 spares on hand, cheap insurance when changing coolant every few years on our Fords: F350, Excursion, and Explorer.

I ordered three, previously. Using a pen light I held the petcocks next to the pen light. Two out of three did have pin holes. The design and manufacturing process is good. It's just a plug that you only need to finger tighten. The hollow center allows for removal with needle nose pliers should the wings ever break off.Dorman needs to step up their "quality control!!" Two defective petcock drain plugs out of three ordered is totally unacceptable.UPDATE: August 5, 2022 - Ordered three more of these petcock drain plugs. Received the order today. Did the same inspection using a pen light. Once again, TWO out of THREE have pin holes in the center of the hollow shaft!I will say that Dorman is CONSISTENT in its rate of defects (33.3%) for these drain plugs. Returning to Amazon the two that are defective. In all fairness, it's NOT Amazon's fault. This all goes back to Dorman. If this is any indication of Dorman's "quality control" (or lack thereof)..... (You can complete the rest)UPDATE: 10-14-2022: For FORD/LINCOLN applications either the Ford OEM drain plug here at Amazon OR the Dorman work. As I mentioned, DO take a pen light and check for a tiny "pin hole" for the Dorman Plug. Under pressure, it will leak. You don't want you and your family stuck on the side of the road due to overheating! The Dorman is a harder plastic drain plug. The Ford OEM plug is a softer plastic. Ford's rationale for a softer plastic is under heat, the plug will seal itself. However, with that over time it will tend to "fuse" itself to the radiator; hence, breaking off the head when loosening the drain plug.GET an "O-Ring" seal from your local auto parts house to use for sealing EITHER PLUG (Dorman or Ford) so that you can use less torque when tightening EITHER drain plug. The 'O-Ring' will do the sealing and not the drain plug itself. ALSO, makes loosening the plug much easier.Being that the DORMAN plug is a harder plastic (with "wings" for tightening) you will also need to apply more torque. With an 'O-Ring' that will not be necessary.HERE'S A TIP: On the Ford OEM drain plug, you can use an Allen (Hex) Wrench to remove the drain plug when the head breaks off. REAL EASY...For my 2003 Lincoln Navigator w/ original Factory Radiator, I used a 5/16" Allen Wrench to remove the plug. You can also use an Allen Wrench to lightly tighten the Ford OEM replacement plug. Then just use your fingers on the head of the plug to finish "snugging" down the Ford Plug.

This radiator drain cock works exactly as designed. In other words it does NOT leak. Just don't screw it in so tight that it strips the threads!

This item works perfectly on a 2003 Ford Expedition. There were no problems at all.The hex head on the factory original drain plug twisted off when I tried to loosen it. I was able to loosen it with a 9/16 in allen wrench and then I pulled out the broken piece. This new drain plug went right in its place.
