Exactly as it says. Hadt he usual broken solder and attachments from control to board, th jumper kit worked perfectly and restored control. But it broke again about 2 years later. Not awful, we got 2 years, but that definitely was not as long as hoped.

Had to manually repair the controller several times, and got tired of constantly fixing this problem. This solution has lasted a long time, and appears to be a permanent solution great value for money and important for me here in Canada, because being able to turn the heat on in the vehicle in the winter time is vitally important.

Great update product to fix the temp control know on 2003 highlander. Tried soldering orig wires, did not work. This is a simple fix for this highlander common problem. Great product and instructions if you have some car/handyman knowledge - look up repair on youtube for removing control panel

I tried to fix this myself previously but I'm not the electronics repair guy I needed to be. This repair package works fine with no soldering. Watch a video on removing the unit (it's pretty easy), disconnecting the wiring is probably hardest thing but it goes back together easily. Use the enclosed pictures to take the unit apart. The pictures are OK, not the best. I think the bulbs are a little different color but they look fine. The old ones looked rough so I suggest replacing them. I took it for a test spin and the A/C ran continuously cold. Was nice not to have to find the sweet spot on the temperature controller. Or, you could take it to an electronics repair shop for some soldering.

I have been without air conditioning for three miserable summers because I wasn't willing to drop $900 on a replacement unit and was too nervous to disassemble my console and try to solder the wires connecting to the temp knob. Cannot believe I didn't find this product sooner, having AC again is glorious. airly easy to install, with a couple notes:1: The new bulbs definitely are annoyingly dim, I don't think it's necessary to replace them, not sure why they're included.2: If you do replace the bulbs, don't try to force them into the socket with force, you could easily break the circuit board with the force required. I found the easiest way to do this was to put them partially in then use a screwdriver to wiggle them in, doing it that way required very little downward force.3: If you haven't watched the YouTube videos on the solder fix to this, you might not be aware of how the ribbon connections work. The guide doesn't cover it. You cannot pull the ribbons out with force, the mechanism that holds the ribbon needs to be pulled up until it clicks and the ribbon will lift right out. I found the easiest way to do this was a fingernail under the lip on the end of each side of the ribbon.

I have to say that I'm not normally one to leave feedback, but felt compelled to do so with this repair kit for the Highlander climate control system. My wife's Highlander's air conditioning stop working. We talked with our mechanic and he told us that replacing the climate control system would cost upwards of $1,000. He also told us that this was a common problem with the Highlander and resulted from a cable that connects the climate control motherboard to the temperature control rheostat. Apparently, if the temperature control knob is at all loose, the cable moves back and forth until, ultimately, one or more of the three wires in the cable breaks.I researched this online and discovered a YouTube video that showed how to solder three wires to bypass the cable. I also found out that the climate control unit could be purchased for $700+. So, I decided to try my hand at the solder fix. I followed the instructions in the video to pull the unit, then soldered the three wires in. Happy days, the air conditioning worked! I tested all the other functions, heater, vent control, etc. and everything worked. Problem solved, right?Well this winter, my wife discovered that the heater didn't work. I pulled the unit again and discovered that one of the wires I had soldered had become disconnected. I'm not great at soldering, and the space between the terminals where the wires have to be soldered is so tiny, that I didn't think that I could re-solder it with shorting across to one of the other wires. So, back online to look for the best price for the control unit. As, I'm searching Amazon, I came across the Dorman 599-040 Climate Control Module Repair Kit. There was only one review, but it was positive, so I thought, why not, its worth a try. If it works, it saves me at least $700 if I were to purchase a new unit and $1,000 If I had my mechanic fix it.Am I glad I did! The replacement was easy, the instructions clear, and now everything works! If you are experiencing this problem, I strongly recommend that you purchase this kit to resolve it.I have to say the the previous reviewer it right, the clock light no longer dims when you turn the headlights on, but that's a minor inconvenience considering th amount of money saved!
