Perfect fit. Easy to use. Good quality not flimsy. Worth the price. Didn't realize it at the time but I so needed this tool to do what I needed to do.

This works perfectly! The key is like several review mention to ease into the two square openings to release the clips. Gentle give a little pull so it moves just a little and then remove the tool. No problems on my 2001 Silverado.

The tool is very flimsy & bent on the first use . Pretty much a cheap single use tool . The power outlet is also thin & flimsy compared to factory . Everything did work but you can tell it is all cheaply made .

Works on a 2013 chevy malibu eco. I ordered this Dorman 56457 Lighter Socket And Removal Tool only for the tool in order to replace the accessory outlet(the 20 amp fuse blew and damaged the accessory socket) in the dash for the tool only as I had previously sourced the receptacle. I failed to remove the socket(user error?) with the tool as it did not push on both sides equally and I ended up disassembling the dash and used a small flat screw driver to pull the locking tab. Also, the pigtail MAY be too short to be able to disconnect from the socket. I ended up using the socket included in the kit as it has provisions for a lighter. It required to be pushed with a fair amount of force as it was tight, but there was no issues with the connector not fitting or locking in place. The tool is made of stamped metal so there is minimal risk of bending or breaking.I am writing this review to make others aware that the Dorman 56457 Lighter Socket And Removal Tool kit fits the vehicle in the headline.

Bought for my 2004 Chevy avalanche. Could barely get the ring around it to have it sit snug in the factory hole and once I got it installed and put all the plastic back on my dash turns out no 12v accessories fit in the socket. Not my 2 way radio. Phone chargers. Bluetooth transmitters noting. Huge waste of money and time.

Product is fine, tool works good. Didn't notice any tool wear after one use. After installation the 12v outlet still didn't work. With further investigation I found another fuse box on the passenger side of my dashboard and located a burnt fuse... Face palm... Fixed. The quality looks the same as my OEM part though so have no fear about that.Recommended. I'd buy it again.

It's a good package. I was able to replace the auxillary power socket (cigarette lighter) on my Grand Prix but it wasn't easy. Still wouldn't come out and I tried the tricks mentioned by others but the tool was stuck in the holes and wouldn't come out. Finally I had to force it and it popped but looks like I broke a small plastic tab on the plastic retainer ring. The new socket slides out when removing a plug. Still, at least I can plug devices in again.I burnt my old socket by using an air compressor. These sockets melt way too easily. I checked all my wiring and fuses with a multimeter and they were all fine, and it was definitely the socket. So be careful with how much current you draw from it and don't run a compressor too long.

The tool and socket worked for my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 and made the job of replacing the cover very easy and quick. One of the 12V power outlet covers on the dash was broken at a car wash recently. I researched how to replace the cover online and found a YouTube video, which gave instructions for partially disassembling the dash, and this listing on Amazon with Nick's review.Encouraged by Nick's review, I gave this tool a shot. My experience was a little different from Nick's. If the tool is fully engaged into both holes and the socket is pulled out of the dash hole a 1/4" or so (as Nick described), then I was unable to remove the tool from the socket and thus was unable to pull the socket completely out. As Nick accurately describes, pulling the socket out past this point, with the tool still in, will cause damage. Unlike Nick, I was unable to remove the tool at this point and had to do something different.Watching the YouTube video, you can see how there are two parts to this assembly, the socket and the cover. To remove the assembly, the socket must come out all the way first, then the cover can just be pushed out. What happens is the socket keeps two plastic clips on the cover extended so that they engage the dash hole and prevent the cover from being pulled out. With the socket removed, those two clips simply relax, thus allowing the cover to be pulled out.I used the prong on the tool to push in the clip in one hole, pulled the assembly out a bit, and held that with a screwdriver. Holding that, I used the prong to push in the clip in the opposite hole and tugged a little. Voila, I could pull the assembly out a quarter inch which then allowed just the socket to be pulled out all the way. There is just enough wire length to allow the socket to be pulled out so the plug can be disconnected. With the socket removed, and holding the wiring plug so it does not retract into the dash, the cover can be just pulled off.To reassemble, reverse the procedure. Start with installing the new cover. Then plug the wiring harness into the socket, align the splines on the socket into the cover, and press in fully to engage the clips. Done!!!

Does a great job of pushing and holding out the 2 lock tabs that secure GM lighter and/or accessory power socket to the outer retainer, but good luck from there trying to then pull the socket out. Had I forced this any more than I did, it would have cracked the dash panel in my pulling efforts.I followed the tips of other reviewers here and other sources on the web, and none of them worked. Also, once the tool is engaged into the 2 slots it needs to be to release the tabs, it is very difficult to remove the tool later without damaging the metal socket. In the end I had to remove the dash panel to access the backside of the plug, break off those lock tabs by prying with a small screwdriver, then push the socket out from behind. I replaced 5 in total. I found during removal that all sockets were so firmly pressed into their retainer rings as it was without the lock tabs, that the only safe way to remove the socket was via the method I used. The included lighter socket was the only thing of value to me in the kit
