Nissan needs to pick their battles when it comes to cost and weight reduction. After 18 years, the OEM plastic resembled something approximating crumbly, waxed cardboard. Some might say that's longer than an OEM part is expected to last, but the OEM fitting has been known to fail much sooner, and it's almost guaranteed to overheat your engine, when it does. This cast aluminum fitting should last a lifetime, it's still lightweight, and reasonably priced. If I get another VQ35, this is the first upgrade.

Exactly what I needed. You must have one of these if you own a Nissan 350z or G35. Plastic one will fail if it hasn't already

Not sure why Nissan/Infinity didn't have a metal one to begin with. The plastic bleed off valve will degrade over time, and can crack causing your car to lose all its coolant. Terrible thing to happen while you're on the road. I replaced mine before it happened to me as preventative maintenance
Thanks great job
