I installed the pan and no leaks all happy until I tried to put the dipstick in and it wont go into the pan. What is the deal with it? I won’t remove it for this problem but how am i gonna know my oil level without a dipstick. When I first change my oil I will know I put 5 quarts but what about if I drive a couple thousand miles and my truck uses a bit of oil how do I know and can’t add without knowing? I wish I read the bad reviews before I bought it.

Item arrived today. It is correct but very poor quality control. This is not what I would expect to be acceptable to allow for sale. I have replaced a number of these oil pans before and never have I seen one like this. You get what you pay for. Dorman is not known for overly great quality but this is bad even for them. Disappointing.

Old one was rusty. Hard to describe. So while I had the transmission out I replaced it. Went smoothly.

Perfect fit on my 318 build. Paint looks great. Project is on going so haven't ran yet. I work auto manufacturing the quality is spot on.

After installing unit on a Dodge Magnum 318 the dip stick will not fully insert into the engine. It stops at the oil pan due to the inner guide built into the oil pan not lining up with the dipstick. Also, the aluminum flexplate cover will need to be trimmed to fit. I just threw the thing away and got a new Mopar unit. Buyer beware. I am an automotive tech of over 30 years and it was installed properly. The pan is just junk.

there is a dimple on the side of the pan where the dipstick is supposed to go into on its way to the well. In these it is off from the original so you can't use a dipstick once you change out the oilpan (happened twice with same oilpan from different suppliers, both dorman products however).

Quality control is apparently not good. The drain plug is installed at an angle, so will not seal. Poor craftsmanship when welding the nut on the inside of the pan. You could tell by the drain plug washer pushing out on one side. How did QA not notice this?So amazon sent a replacement pan. Same issue. Spend the extra and don't by the Dorman. Buy a Spectra at least reviews are good.

Great replacement oil pan. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 5.2L, 4X4, and the pan can be changed without jacking up the engine. Support the truck on the frame rails to leave the front drive axle assembly hang down as far as possible, remove the starter, (2) engine to transmission stiffeners, and transmission dust shield. Pan will come right out, and new one can then be installed. Some guys say this is a 30 minute job. They have to be on a lift and did a few in the past to become that fast. If you are in a garage and working off a creeper, as I was, I would allow 2 -3 hours for this change. The worst part is the top starter bolt.

I installed this pan as a replacement on my mother's truck. Original was bent by an idiot previous mechanic, who didn't understand that these can't be over tightened. It fits well and tightens up snug (at proper torque per bolt). However, the oil dipstick weld on the inside doesn't line up properly with the tube for the factory dip stick. Dipstick goes half way down, then hits the inside of the pan. You can hear it scrapping metal on the inside. There's no "other way" to realign the lower part of the tube (because it's sealed and welded), nor is there any other way to realign the pan itself. There's a single bolt securing the top of the tube to the block that you can take loose, but that didn't help either. Finally figured out that this product has a smaller (less wide), oil dipstick weld. I found that out by pushing a long guitar string down in there which connected to the pan easily. So, I went and bought a cheap, universal oil dipstick that was thinner than the original. That did the trick. This was for a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 1/2 ton pickup, with a 5.2L V8. Hope this helps. 3 out of 5 stars because I shouldn't have had to deal with that crap. Direct part replacement means it should be exactly the same.... Not, "close enough"!
