Works well. Definitely worth the price. If this is something you’re looking for.It looks nice but it is plastic and not wood.Sound is on par with the wooden models that are much more expensive but to be honest it’s not the most satisfying click in the world on either. But to be fair the digital ones don’t sound that good either! But I’m probably spoiled because I’m used to the click coming from a recording studio monitorBut it is cool that it’s analog and you can keep it on the the piano because it looks nice. Also, the 3/4 time is a little bell that ringsAt the end of the day, I think it does motivate and help you to practice more having the little arm moving back-and-forth and that you have to wind it then something digital.

Update!!! (Old review is below) So Donner contacted me after they saw my review and said they were sending a new replacement free of charge. They said there was no need to return the broken one. I was asked for my name and address and a telephone number but I told them that I wasn’t comfortable giving the info because it clearly states in the message through Amazon not to give out personal info. They sent a message back saying it was on its way. I got it a few days later and the weight has a slightly different design using screws to hold the back on instead of the stamp method that fell apart. I will give it 4 stars because it isn’t calibrated quite right. I will have to take some mass off of the weight to calibrate it so it is closer to the correct tempo when set to the markings on the meter plate. It is mechanical and I don’t think that it will ever be absolutely accurate but I like it because it’s easily accessible and fun to play to. Thanks Donner for standing behind your product!I paid over $40 for this metronome thinking it would be worth the investment. I have only used it about three times and the weight has fallen apart so it doesn’t work. I’m a pretty handy guy so I tried to fix it but the way the weight is made it is impossible to get back together. So I ordered a replacement weight but it isn’t accurate now. I tried to calibrate the new weight but it is impossible because it needs weight added not subtracted. Just a big waste of time and money. I’ll stick to the metronome on my iPhone.

Based on good reviews, and price, I expected good quality and accuracy. The first attempt turned out to be a used item, and did not have the listed 'inspection' sticker on it. The wand was loose when I opened the box, the cover not attached to the housing, and when wound it did indeed work on all of the 'bell bar' settings as advertised, but with a random clunk every minute or so. Too lined up against my Yamaha KB electronic metronome @ 84 BPM it drifted out of step, then, oddly, back in. The frequency of drift , setting 4, is exactly every 8 beats 'in', every 4 'out' - late. A little math and engineering indicates the regulation cog is not quite circular, perhaps oval?, or the number of teeth on it is not consistent per inch.Returned that edition, a replacement came properly packed like a new one should, unlike the previous, yet it too lacks an inspection sticker on the item. No surprise to find that, A, the beat is a wee bit lob-sided and out of step with my Yamaha KB like the previous edition, but far worse. After several attempts to find where the median of it's count lay, I could not achieve a good result. If at 84 BM it either lagged, or passed the KB electronic metronome. Then working through the 'bell / bar' settings I find that for the 3 setting it counts 6! and for the 4 it counts 12, wow! How can they ship such bad product? Needless to say on 6 setting it still counts 12.It appears that the reason why these lack an inspection sticker is that they are not inspected! That's why each one has one kind of defect or another.Amazon is not responsible for the manufacture lack of QC, but surely somebody there must be reading these reviews, and realize that selling defective product is an Amazon brand liability. Please stop offering these Donner metronomes, they are not worthy of the name.Returned for a refund. Now looking for a reliable mechanical metronome.Edit: Feb 3rd 2022.I today see Amazon reduced the price of these by 20%. I wonder if they realize that even at the new price, these are still as bad? If my experience is indicative, there will be a flood of returns. Too, I notice several brands are using the same Chinese made plastic / metal mechanism, no surprised to read similar negative reports about them here on Amazon. Most surprising, Wittner brand which is supposedly made in Germany.Buying a mechanical Metronome anywhere?Caveat Emptor.
