The only thing that would work better to train your pup is a real duck! Looks the part has the right weight and the head will keep them from shaking with a bird in their mouth. Sits at the right depth in the water unlike the foam Imitations that are lighter and ride high in the water and dogs tend to push those away as they try to grab them.. A real Duck is easier for a dog to grab but the design, weight and material this is made from make it a really good training tool and they soon learn where to hold it .. I have a few of these and a couple of the foam less expensive versions and these are way better, they have a decent weight to toss out there and hold up to enthusiastic pups like my 10 month old Swamp Collie, as you can see she likes her Dokken, started out with the teal and is now using the standard size.She's the first retriever I have trained in a lot of years and I'm discovering some of these Newfangled Training tools are worth using !

A bit pricey, but well worth every penny spent.Our dogs never get bored wit these.
