I had never used an action camera before, but after deciding to create content for my YouTube channel, I decided to give DJI a chance instead of GoPro. All the DJI products I own have excellent build quality, and I’ve never had any issues with them. As for the ND filter, if you like shooting outdoors and want to give your videos a cinematic look, this is perfect for you! If you don’t need anything fancy, you can simply use the camera with its default settings, and you’ll be fine too.

I purchased these as a gift for my husband, to use on his DJI Osmo 4 camera for moto vlogging. He rants and raves about how much of a difference they make. To put it simply, it’s like putting sunglasses on your camera to control over exposure and color tone. I’d you’re a moto vlogger, these are nightly recommended on the bright sunny days to keep your footage from being sun washed.

I had seen some ND filters that required they be screwed onto the DJU Action 5 Pro in place of the protective lens. I didn’t want to be unscrewing and screwing on filters while out using the camera. The idea of a filter that fits over the protective lens works great. There is a but of rubber around the inside edge so that when you put it over the protective lens, it stays in place really well. When I had ordered them, I was afraid it would be something that could be knocked off while in use but that isn’t the case. This is a great set of ND filters and the storage case is well built and makes it easy to remove and store the lenses.

These filters are excellent for gaining more control over your shutter speed, especially when aiming for cinematic motion blur in bright daylight. When using an action camera, I don’t typically rely on them unless I’m mixing the footage with other cameras that are shooting in log profiles. In those cases, where more precise settings are needed, these filters are a huge help.

I have nothing negative to say about this ND filter set. I like everything about it: ND values are 8, 16, 32 (which are the most used when it cones to daylight filming); They are easy to install and remove from camera lens; The slim case is high-quality, lightweight and securely hold the filters; The filters are high-quality (DJI says it’s made of Gorilla glass—I’ve no reason to doubt their claim) and I don’t see any image aberrations. These are outstanding. I know there are less expensive ND filters sets with more lenses in the kit, but it’s unlikely anyone would need more than three to choose from to use with an Osmo Action camera due to the electronic stabilization requires a higher shutter speed (at least 1/200).

These are high quality ND filters, and fit perfectly snug...but you really don't need ND filters on an action camera. Trying to follow the 180 rule on an action camera is going to give you terrible results. You need a fast shutter speed to make sure each and every frame is free of motion blur if you plan to use the stabilization or gyro data to stabilize in post. If there's motion blur in the frames, you'll get ghosting all over the place if you try to stabilize it. Keep the shutter speed at 1/200 or faster if you want clean stabilization. Using an ND filter will make it hard to do that.
