Has a lot of features, easy to use, accuracy leaves something to be desired. Barometer is off by 1.0, the barometric pressure is always 1.0 lower than the actual number, instead of 30.0hg it is 29.0 the altimeter only measures height from a starting point up, instead of from sea level, which isn't really a problem. The compass is way off out of the box, but the instructions tell you how to calibrate it. The back light doesn't stay on long enough to really be useful. Thermometer is accurate if you don't touch the device. It's lightweight and the weather forecaster seems fairly accurate. Overall it's an ok device for the money.

Ordered through Amazon (obviously). Took two weeks to arrive. I purchased this altimeter for accuracy. I live in Colorado and I know my home is right at 5,500ft. This altimeter shows 5,199ft. 300ft difference. Maybe I received a lemon, or there is a way to reset the altimeter. If there is a way to reset then it should state that in the instructions. I would be afraid to rely on this out in the wilderness when my life depends on it. Also, I returned in Amazon and have to pay to return it. Not cool. Don't waste your money.

I purchased this with relatively low expectations given the few ratings and low cost, and took it on a 50 mile Pacific Crest Trail hike. I'm impressed! Over a week of hiking between 300 and 4,000 feet elevation the device appeared quite accurate compared to my topographic map. I occasionally reset the reference altitude as it's normal for readings to vary with changes in atmospheric pressure. The device displays a weather icon (sunny, partly cloudy, overcast, rain) based on pressure changes, but an interesting quirk is that you can force it to display sunny by descending (it senses increasing pressure) or display rainy by ascending (it senses decreasing pressure)! The device doesn't know that YOU are creating the pressure change instead of the weather, but I noticed that effect only lasts an hour or so after I stopped changing my own altitude. For the price, I can ignore the weather icon while I'm moving.
