Pre drilled lid holes do not match up to hinges at all!! I am So frustrated #@$& what a shame!! Ruins the appearance and function.

This is a nice looking item, and a great idea - keep the litter box out of sight and give kitty-cat some privacy. Assembly was straightforward and easy with screw holes pre-drilled and accurate right up to "Step 8" which involved fastening the lid to the box hinges - then things got tricky. The lid, like everything else, has pre-spotted holes for the screws. Unfortunately, they don't match up to the hinges. (see the picture that shows how far off the holes were) This meant that I had to carefully measure the lid to center it properly and then mark and pre-drill new screw holes. Once I had that done I installed the screws to fasten the lid and then marked, drilled and installed the screws for the assist hinges shown in "Step 10". (see the other picture for the finished hinge install) After all that everything worked fine and this is a useful and attractive piece of furniture. But what should have been a half-hour of easy assembly turned into a couple hours, with some sweating over getting measurements just right. The instructions are actually pretty good and are written by someone who has assembled one of these. Believe them when they say not to use a drill-driver to tighten the screws - the material is presswood and will strip out in a heartbeat. If you do use a drill driver please set it at its very lowest torque setting!This would be a 4 or maybe even 5 star item if the pre-spotted holes had been right. With the holes in the wrong place this item moves out of the "easy for anyone to assemble" and into the "you better be pretty handy" zone - so beware. Hopefully the importer will read this and get that little error straightened out quick!

I put this together by myself. As an expert assembler of mdf furniture, I would recommend getting a second person when putting the lid on. I really like that they provided an extra of every screw. I did end up losing one. It will show up when I am barefoot. The instructions were fairly easy to follow.The finished product seems fairly solid, though I am a little worried the weight of some of my bigger cats in addition to the weight of the litter might be a little much. I recommend getting a pad or mat for the inside, as I don't know how well it will react to cat pee. It is MDF after all.

Super easy install—less than 20 mins. Directions were easy. It’s sturdy. I will have to buy a more narrow litter mat but an XL litter box and litter genie fit well within it. My cats have had no issues with it. I was glad the hinges used hold the top up well wherever you put it while cleaning the inside. Very happy with this purchase.
