I'm a car enthusiast, and I was curious about the tint levels on my windows. This digital tint meter is a really cool gadget! It's small and handheld, so it's easy to use. I love that it measures visible light, UV, and IR transmittance all in one device. It's super helpful for checking the legality of my window tint and also for comparing different films. The automatic calibration is a great feature – no more messing around with manual adjustments. The Type-C charging is convenient, too. The readings are accurate and easy to understand. It's definitely a handy tool to have if you're into window tinting or just curious about how much light your windows are blocking. I've even used it to check the tint on my house windows! If you're looking for a reliable and easy-to-use tint meter, I highly recommend this one.

The results of this tint meter are similar to the one I have that is a different brand. This one has a wider throat, which gives it some more versatility. However, it also cycles more slowly when testing each light frequency,. Not a big deal, but I prefer the faster cycle. So far I'm liking the wider throat, which makes it easier for me to get around the rims of safety goggles and glasses to test them for UV filtration - cheap, bad safety glasses lack UV protection, so it is an easy way to spot some un-trustworthy safety glasses, though a better plan is to only buy reputable brand name ones.

This tint checking tool gives an approximate light transmission value so that you know if your tinted windows are ok or not according to your state’s tint laws. I do my own window tinting so I know the film that I’ve applied to my windows, I used this device to check the light transmission and it read 31% ( my film was rated as 35%); my rear window measured at 21% (my film is rated at 25%). So both of my readings were lower than I’d expected; the specs of this device says there is 2% deviation and even still it’s not measuring close to the tint’s rated light transmission. I measured the light transmission of a scrap piece of limo tint that I had and it measured approximately 3% ( my limo tint was rated at 5%). So on the lower end of the light transmission the device’s deviation can account for the tint rating but as the light transmission increases my readings varied. Overall this device allows me to get an approximate light transmission measurement but if I was looking for accuracy this device does not get me there.

Fairly simple meter. In addition to visible light (tint) it also does UV and IR. Can help you decide if UV film is worth it for your windows. It lists the wavelengths on the front. They should have added what they correspond to for non physics people. The single button on the front is to turn it on and zero it, if needed. It seems to have a refresh of 1 hz, there's a piechart in quadrants on the screen that fills up every 4 seconds or so. Lanyard is silicone instead of nylon. I like that.It has such a nice profile to it, just slides right in a breast pocket of a shirt no problem. It's fun to try this on different types of plastics (polycarbonate, polyethylene, etc) and glasses (soda lime, borosilicate, lead). Could be used to teach about refractive index, absorption, etc and how they relate to wavelength. The big, VERY annoying con is it only does auto shut off. You can't turn if off yourself. The manual says it's after 1 minute, but it's not the case. I lost count but it was still going after 15 minutes. It just sits there, flashing and flashing. As a result, just taking an afternoon of occasional measurements has used over half the battery. On one with an actual off switch, I'd still have like 95% left. Only saving grace is that it is USB-C and easily recharged.

This Digital Tint Meter Handheld Window Tint Solar Film Transmission Meter Type-C Charge VL UV IR is nice. This is a nice Digital Tint Meter. This works as it should. There is not much to it. You hit the button and it give you the reading. It shows you the info you need. I like it. It seems to work. I have not calibrated it . But, it seem to be right one with the readings.

I should admit I was a bit skeptical prior ordering this meter, it looked like it would be one of those cheaply made devices that take manufacturing shortcuts to cut cost. I was wrong! This device is well made and even comes in very well packaged! Surely, no cutting corners with this one.The device feels solid with some heft to it. It comes with a nice red silicon laniard to match its sole push button.Function wise, the device works very well, although I don't like the fact it's constantlymeasuring even without the presence of a media. The 3 emitting diodes are constantly blinking and their respective photo sensors are constantly measuring percent of light transmitted. The button is basically to turn the device on, lock/hold a measurement, and to force auto calibration. The device does not come with any calibration certificate nor does it state its accuracies. It auto calibrate itself at every power on and without the need for standards mediums with known transmittance. It works well on open frame glass or glass with thin bezels. I was happy to see that my optician didn't lie to me and my glasses do truly offer UV protection.Although good, the display could've been more aligned with the diodes and displays all measurements in a concise manner instead of having to always remind yourself what value means what. Would've been great if it could also be capable of displaying the percent oflight lost instead of just light transmitted. In all I'm happy with this tint meter.4 stars
