Easy enough to read and seems to be accurate after properly following directions. The zero calibration vs. slope calibration instructions are in two separate places within the manual causing a little confusion and difficulty but once I figured it out it did okay. I tested against another DO meter and they agreed 3 out of 3 times once I did a zero calibration then a power off and rinse and then slope calibration per manual. Aside from the calibration process I really have no gripes.

UIUZMAR Digital Dissolved Oxygen Meter Portable Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit with 3.6ft Electrode for Ponds Aquarium Aquaculture Do Meter for Water Fish Tank with Measuring Range 0.0‑40.0 Mg/LI use this dissolved oxygen meter just like I use the other three I own, namely, for keeping track of oxygen concentration in Harvey the Attack Turtle’s living arrangement. At that, it works quite well. The dynamic range is adequate for such a pond and tank, while the display is crisp and bright, the electrode itself encased in plastic so quite robust, and the meter itself appears quite rugged in build and composition. At some $80 when I obtained it, the meter/electrode is a bit expensive, but I note.a price drop just now that leads to better value for money.

Once again, UIUZMAR delivers on a nicely designed, seemingly well-built water quality meter. In this case, it is a polarographic (membrane-type) dissolved oxygen (DO) meter that reports DO in mg/L (milligrams per liter) and % DO Sat (percent DO saturation). The built-in (and necessary) temperature sensor reports in both degrees Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F). The cable is only 1.1 m (3.6 feet) in length, so if your water surface is farther than this, you will need to bring the water to the probe on the meter with a water sampler, i.e., you are not going to be able to easily dangle this probe from a bridge to get a DO measurement. Unlike some other meters, the battery housing for this DO meter is protected with an O-ring. Like the other UIUZMAR I have, this DO meter comes with an excellent set of illustrated, printed instructions on the maintenance, calibration, and use of this DO meter. Moreover, UIUZMAR provides a very good, captioned video on the Amazon site demonstrating how to calibrate the DO meter. Regarding the instructions, my only recommendation is that the saturated air (slope) calibration be done in a partially (not tightly) closed container (e.g., Erlenmeyer flask) with some water in the bottom (photo). All-in-all, this is a very good DO meter. My main complaint is that they do not provide some sort of field case with foam for using this meter in the field.PROS• Clear, illustrated printed instruction booklet on the maintenance, calibration, and use of the DO meter augmented with a captioned video.• Battery housing is protected with an O-ring.• The probe cable connects to the meter with a quick-connect, not a threaded connector.• Probe shroud protects probe membrane and fits nicely in my 1,500-mL Erlenmeyer flask (with 400 mL of water in the bottom) that I use for saturated air calibration.• The 0-mg/L calibration standard is a liquid and not a powder that must be dissolved in distilled water.• Six membrane caps are provided.• Two bottles of electrolyte solution are provided.CONS• The DO meter is shipped in a box – no field case is provided.• The water saturated air calibration probably should be suspended over water in a partially (not tightly) closed container (e.g., an Erlenmeyer flask).

There are 2 different calibations that need to be performed before this item is ready to go. The first one is a Zero Calibration, and the kit comes with a one time use zero-oxygen solution, which is good for 2 hours after opening then should be discarded. This calibration should be done before first use. The second calibration is the slope calibration which needs to be done each time you use the meter. Also, you need to install a new membrane cap on first use, which should be rinsed with electrolyte solution, then filled with electrolyte solution. From reading the directions, it is my understanding that the membrane cap can be reused as long as the cap is undamaged and clean (and you can attempt to clean it with distilled water). As it comes with 6 extra membrane caps and 2 small bottles of electrolyte solution, I guess it could do at least 12 readings before you would need to refill your supplies. That of course is just a guess and use case might be different as I didn't use up all my supplies to get a solid number.I have a couple of small ponds with filters and bubblers, and was considering trying one with just plants and guppies. I wanted a way to test the oxygen when I started on that project, and this will do the job!

I'm disappointed in this item. I executed the calibration procedures exactly, but I get inconsistent readings that often don't make sense (over 100% oxygen saturation). I can't recommend this product.

I have found it very difficult to calibrate and it has to be calibrated for use. I was going to return it, but I missed the return window by two days.

It functions perfectly and although I have no way to check how accurate it is, I can't imagine that it's not accurate based on how it works.
