Absolutely horrible readability. The battery was dead inside it. The spare had charge and I started using it to make some Amazon reviews but you can’t get the tool on the piece you’re measuring before the light shuts off so functionally it’s ease of use is 0/10. No joke you count to 6 or Four Mississippi and it’s dark. It’s like a race to push the button put it on take a blurry photo and pitch black. Then after about 3minutes doing that I almost burnt my hand which scared me to death, I build electric car batteries so I have 18650, 21700 and 36800 lithium batteries everywhere that I test and review and thought I touched it against something live. I’m looking and feeling around then feel the plastic display and it’s burning up. Now I’m racing to find a screw driver because of course it’s the only calipers in the world with screws keeping the metal tray in. Luckily I pulled it out and threw it in a fire proof LiPo safe bag right before it got red hot. I’ve looked it over and the batteries seem fine, the tray doesn’t short it out and I only used the light 5 times. You can leave an led on for an hour without a problem. Stuck my fluke ohmmeter up inside to find out the positive and negative contacts on the caliper are 2.8 ohms. It should be 2000. Something on its circuit board is shorting out. I tried one more battery of my own and same thing. It turns on but that battery is about to blow up in a couple minutes.

I was looking a reasonably priced, lighted, USB rechargeable digital caliper, but I found this. 2 out if 3 ain't bad. I find it handy, sturdy, sufficiently accurate, easy to read, and the light is the icing on the cake. The pre-installed battery was DOA, so I replaced it with an Everready Lithium. We'll see how it lasts, but so far, so good.

Well, I'm getting old and seem to require more light to see. Having an illuminated display is really helpful for sure. Seems to work fine just like my other calipers, but I don't do anything that requires exacting precision so I really can't speak to its accuracy.

Well for the first 4 months with very little use - these calipers seemed to be pretty good. Then just today the light stopped working completely.Even though the calipers are new, I replaced the batteries and the light still is not working.I guess I will toss these and try to find another set that has a light and I will hope they last longer than 4 months.

This is a well built caliper that unlike many others is all metal. It includes a nice case, spare battery and a small screwdriver needed to remove the battery cover. The light is nice but turns off after 10 seconds no matter what - even when using the caliper to measure. I would prefer it stay on until toggled off, or turn off when the caliper shuts itself down. There is no way to turn the light off manually. The battery cover could be improved. There are two very tiny screws that hold the cover in place. Though they provide the screwdriver needed to remove them, it would be easy to loose the tiny screws. If they made the screws captive so that they stay in the cover, that would be an improvement.I suspect if the screws are lost the caliper would be worthless and unlikely to find replacements.Keep a magnet handy when removing the screws to minimize the risk of losing them. They claim the battery should last 12 months, but after less than 6 months of infrequent use I had to replace the battery. The caliper still worked but the (very seldom used) light was dim enough it was useless.

Has pros and cons.+ Heavy duty / thick construction.+ nice looking back light+ mechanical operation is smooth+ Turns on simply by moving the jaw- But - then you have to close it to zero it out anyway so auto On seems pointless.- Quite heavy for a caliper.- It never really shuts off which runs down the battery. I got 6 months and it's dead.I think OFF should be OFF and not sleep mode or whatever it uses to wake up when it detects movement. My higher end units run for many years on 1 battery. Not this one.Used it twice and the battery is dead again. The 5 minute auto-off feature only turns off the LCD, not the whole unit.

These are well made and the light along with the three different measurement types help me greatly. Theses are a great buy.

This caliper has everything I was looking for:Fractions in addition to Inches and Metric,Metal housing for the very clear and large display and electronics,I specially like the battery compartment placed on top of the housing instead of the face, the lid is made of metal and secured by two screws.Buttons are well placed and have a positive click when pressed. On/Off and Zero buttons are combined in one, On/Off requires a long press which is pretty much standard in modern gadgets.Thumb Roller,Backlight is very useful in some situations,This caliper turns on when the slide is moved - no need to press "ON" button after every time out and it does times out to save the battery,Accurate enough for my needs.Another plus IMO - it's made of thicker metal than most calipers. It's a little heavier, which I find to be a good thing. What else can I ask for? Overall it's a very well designed and made product.I took some risk buying it as it was not even listed at the manufacturer's site (it's a new offer) and there were no reviews. Now I'm glad I did. The first one I received had a defect, so I contacted PostSales Service via the email listed in their manual. The response was quick and the problem was taken care of without delays. I received a perfectly functioning replacement and now I know I can rely on a very good responsive and friendly Customer Service. I highly recommend this caliper - hobbyists should be very happy with it. If you are looking for a greater accuracy you might want to consider a Micrometer from the same company. I am not affiliated with the company in any way and paid for the product in full. Hope this review helps.
