Introduction

The DFRobot 4WD Mobile Platform is intended for use with the DFRobot ROMEO Microcontroller and includes 4x drive motors, 4x wheels and a complete chassis with mounting hardware.

  • The included second level allows you to add more electronics and define a modular layout.
  • The rectangular hole allows for a servo to be attached and be used for several purposes like a movable camera or a robotic arm.

  • The high-strength aluminum alloy body material provides flexibility in rapid movement particularly in outdoor grass, gravel, sand or sloped surface.

Used this as a quick robot base for a proof of concept. IT works, although for the price I would expect slightly better motors. The metal is pretty thin - I've already bent the piece that extends out, but then again I have a raspberry pi velcro'd to it, so it may be me just manhandling it.

The idea is great and I hope it will be fun when it is up and running. However, it had screws missing, washers missing, a couple screw holes felt like they hadn't been drilled properly. Its been a bit of a disaster as far as having the correct parts.

I bought this as a project for my son and I, so far it's passed all our expectations. The construction is surprisingly well made. All part fit together with perfection. Still had a little machine oil from the machining process but we liked that. Came with all the hardware plus extra screws and nuts. It took a little bit of plotting to find the holes that were predrilled for the arduino. I will eventually add more sensors, but it works quite well. I paid a little more then if I bought it from DFRobot directly, but I received the item faster then expected.
