Product Description

The DepthTrax 2B is an updated version of DepthTrax 1B. Following years of exhaustive RandD and field testing, we've updated the SONAR algorithms of the DepthTrax 2B to literally reach new depths. Now able to reach depths of 600 feet and tuned for high speed performance, the DepthTrax 2B reaches deeper and performs faster than any depth finder we've ever produced. The DepthTrax 2B delivers a combination of performance and affordability unrivaled in any other depth sounder. The foundation of the DepthTrax 2B is our proprietary algorithmic programming, which significantly reduces false readings and products unmatched precision. Depth readings are updated four times per second on the no glare, polarized LCD icon display. We've even incorporated a waterproof plud and play transducer connector and a waterproof fuse holder. Finally, we've perfected customization with our patented interchangeable face/bezel system. The DepthTrax 2B includes white/black face-plates and trim rings, allowing custom matching to most boat dash configurations. We even throw in a storage sun cover for good measure. The DepthTrax 2B comes standard with HawkEye's exclusive high-speed, dual-mount transducer that can be transom mounted or glued inside most boat hulls. Ideal for power boaters and sailors, the Norcross Hawkeye DF1000D Depth Sounder delivers instant depth updates to help keep you safe in the water. Featuring auto-ranging and auto-sensitivity features, the DF1000D gives precise depth readings (in feet or meters) from 2.5 to 200 feet at speeds up to 63 miles per hour. It also incorporates an advanced three-stage depth alarm warning system with programmable shallow and deep water alarms, while the Keel-Offset function allows readings to be adjusted for vessel draft. Today's high-tech, multipurpose depth sounders and fish finders are designed to produce a range of readings, from bottom contour, fish location, and thermoclines, to a variety of other useful sonar data. However, the technology used to decipher between these different signals, coupled with the configuration of their specialized transducers, greatly reduces their ability to give instant bottom readings while on plane. The DF1000D, on the other hand, gives you reliable reading while you're running your boat. Its easy touch, algorithmic, digital programming, waterproof front face, and large, 1.65 x 0.85-inch, illuminated display give you everything you need to make each trip safe and productive. For added convenience, the included transducer can be transom-mounted or glued in. The DF1000D comes with a two year .

I purchased this product to replace my 1986 Lowrance 3400 depth finder. All of my gauges in my go fast boat are livorsi. Hawkeye and their reputation was almost a direct replacement, if you have a Lowrance 3400 or 3500 older obsolete series, the hole on the dash will be a 1/4 inch bigger but an easy fix with a simple rubber washer purchased at a local hardware store. I cruise at 45 mph and run at 65mph and the depth readings are very accurate. I really like the shallow water alarm when it goes off. this will be my second season with it.

This has been a great product! 2 full seasons and it has worked flawlessly at all speeds. It takes some mechanical ability to install. You have to drill in the dash to mount, run wiring and layout and mount the transponder in the proper location.

I went through several dashmount Humminbird depth finders before I gave up and tried this competitor. What a difference! The HawkEye more quickly shows depth when initially powered on, the display does not black out when wearing polarizing sunglasses, and the transom sending unit can be mounted inside the bilge to work just fine.History. I had problems with both the display head and the transponder on the Humminbird, and their customer service didn't really share my concern about their quality control. After arguing for replacements, I gave up and threw it out when another failure took place. The symptoms were a lack of readout and erroneous readouts, despite having mounted the sending unit in an area of the bilge provided by the boat manufacturer for just that purpose. After all that, I was less tolerant of having to push my sunglasses up to take a reading, because their LCD display was cross-polarized. I yanked both ends of it out of there, and took a grinder to remove the epoxy in the mounting area. The Hawk-Eye installed the same way as the Humminbird, so I had the benefit of experience how to first lay out the connecting cable, which is integral to the sending unit, making sure the cable is unkinked and properly routed in the gunwale. PRESTO, upon power up, I got a good reading at the dock, and it works well 95% percent of the time while underway. Occasionally while on plane at 20kts or more, it will lose its reading, possibly from soft bottom or murky water. It recaptures depth pretty quickly, and if not, a power off/on cycle restores the reading.Recommended.

Replaced the depth finder in my Moomba LSV and fit right in the dash where the old one was. 1/3 the price of the original replacement.

UPDATE 2... The replacement transducer also failed within several weeks of installing it in the same manner as the first one. Despite the fine customer service that I received for the first failure, I was not going to install a 3rd transducer from this company. I have since purchased the Hummingbird Depth Sounder and have had no issues now for 7 months.UPDATE... My depth finder became defective after about 4 weeks of use. I called the Norcross from my boat and amazingly, I got through to a human being right away. He helped me troubleshoot the problem and we indeed verified the transducer was defective. Immediately, he sent me a prepaid UPS shipping label via email for me to return the defective transducer. The new unit was shipped as soon as he received the defective unit. The company even notified me that they verified the transducer was defective in their test lab. Norcross provided me with OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE that you don't see very often these days. I will always highly recommend a company that stands behind their products with that kind of service and communication.I installed this on my 19 foot Chris Craft bowrider. The instructions were very clear and straight forward. As suggested in the instructions, I first tested the unit and the desired location by placing the transducer just in front of my inboard motor down in the bilge and just to the right of the centerline. I used petroleum jelly to temporarily mate the transducer to the hull as instructed. The petroleum jelly was gooey enough to hold the unit in place during slow turns and slow acceleration. I got good depth readings at both a standstill and then in motion. So I knew I had a good location. I then permanently mounted the transducer with Loctite's 2 part marine epoxy and continued to get good readings during and after the cure time. Please note the instructions emphasize using a slow cure epoxy. I measured the accuracy of the meter and found that it is off by maybe 1 foot but that is because it's mounted down in the bilge which is about 1 foot below the waterline. It also agreed precisely with the meter of a different manufacturer mounted in my friend's boat. After having the boat out all of the next day, I was quite surprised to see how shallow many of Florida's lakes and rivers truly are. There were many spots in lake Jessup that are only 3 feet deep. I'm sure this depth finder will pay for itself by minimizing the risk of damaging my boat in shallow water.
