I thought maybe I was using this incorrectly. I would put fresh batteries in and look over at it and it’s out (not lit) again. It can’t be draining the batteries bc it doesn’t stay lit. To test this I pressed the “on” button, set the unit beside me and started the timer on my phone. It stayed lit for exactly 4 minutes and 20 seconds. I cannot detect any way to reset the timer. If I could give it zero stars I would. It was expensive. There are much better cordless options out there. Don’t waste your money on this.

I needed one more retro light for my Christmas village. These retrogit lights are a huge convenience over the stock plug-ins. Having said that, these take the usual ,4 AAA and use power in one Christmas season. Also, I found this newer light to be a bit brighter and slightly more blue. My old retros are old, so this maybe the new improved model. The difference isn't distracting and barely noticable. Just an observation.

When I put my Dept 56 buildings in a cabinet, I use one of these to light it up! Looks nice and adds a nice touch to whatever season we are in (I have dept 56 buildings for each season!). Sometimes I don't need them, but when I do...I've got them!

I am thrilled to be able to display my Department 56 house ANYWHERE. With this ANYWHERE unit - houses can be placed anywhere. No longer do you need to make sure you are right next to an outlet - which isn't always possible. This is great.

I used this to replace a light in a decorative lamp. As is often the case with LED lights…they don’t “spread the light” in the same way that incandescent bulbs do. So the color and functionality are exactly the same as the bulb system that I replaced. However, if you are looking for that warm glow that seems to “fill a house” (or building) in a Christmas village you might want to stick with incandescent. This just doesn’t create that warm “glow.” It creates a warm “color.” That being said….you get the warm color without the need to plug this in to anything else. Apparently it has the option to be remote controlled as well if you purchase something else to make it that way, the wires for this are in an annoying location and block the light, but if that is what you are looking for this is the way to go. Also, this does not heat up like incandescent bulbs do. The LED vs. incandescent debate is a personal choice for what each one of us is looking for in our lighting. As I am using this in a decorative lamp in a child’s room it is nice for me that it will turn itself off and it won’t heat up in the hours that it is on. So it’s an ok option for that, but it is long because the batteries are in the contraption that you put in the lamp/house/etc that you put it in. So for my lamp…it barely fits in height wise, but it really is fully hidden and I much prefer the push button on/off over the turning wheel on/off switch. I hope this helps someone out in their own debate “to purchase or not to purchase” this item.

I bought this to replace the fiber optics in a building I bought in a thrift store for two dollars. I am very pleased with how well it lights up the large building. So I will be buying two more for two other buildings so I won't have to move my dresser to plug anything in. It was very easy to use and retro fit my buildings.

Love them! Get several and avoid electrical cables on your Christmas Village (Dept 56) house lighting.I bought a dozen and then ordered more. One set of 4 AAA batteries will only last a few days, but it's worth while !I only keep the units on for a couple of hours after sundown, anyway. Each has an annoying lead wire that you have to stuff in the hole first - it's for the few until that have other devices inside the need power (secondary lighting or moving parts). You can cut this ribbon off, as long as all the wires are cleanly cut and not touching. This battery light gives you the freedom to place your houses anywhere you want them, like end tables or places without electrical outlets.Remember to remove the batteries for storage. They won't survive anyway and they may leak and cause a mess or damage.
