Seems like quality but not large enough for the molars of my 30 lb cockapoo. Wish it opened larger. Would work well for xsmall dog.

Former vet tech here. Our rescue pup had some AWFUL tartar buildup, but fortunately no gingivitis - I knew her teeth would be pearly white underneath. With routine dentals costing upwards of $1000 these days, I decided to give this and an at-home ultrasonic cleaner a shot. The downside is that there will be no polishing - when done in the office, we do this to smooth out microscopic scratches from scaling so that they don't invite buildup to quickly recur. The before/after is just after my first session with these forceps. We're not done! I'll work on these some more and then follow up with the ultrasonic cleaner when it gets here.My only complaint is that they're not the style I had expected. These have one straight edge and one curved edge. The first few photos show the style with two gently curved edges - those are the ones I prefer. This straight edge is awkward to use, because it acts more as a brace rather than being able to "bite" at the calculus.I would hesitate to put these into the hands of someone with no experience, as you most certainly could injure your dog's mouth if you don't know what you're doing.

I should have taken before and after pics but didn’t think of it. My dogs teeth are awful, she needs a dental cleaning every year for the last few years. She’s 15 now and can’t go under anesthesia anymore. I tried this with a friend holding my dog and the tartar just clipped right off. I was amazed. Nice and fresh white teeth now. I started a anti plaque build up treat daily now. Very satisfied

My 6 year dog has one big tooth that has really bad tartar issues. It is due to the position she sits in when chewing on “bones” she always only chews on one side of her mouth. When I brush her teeth it is often blindly due to this tooth being so far back and she nears 80 pounds. Vet recommended handed me a list of dozens of home dental products (gels, tooth pastes, brushes, rinses etc) to pick from. After trying several of them along with dental tools like picks and scrapers without any noticeable difference at all I saw this and was desperate to try although was apprehensive. Found a YouTube video of a vet cleaning a dog’s test with this which put me at ease. My dog only lets me do it once or twice a sitting without trying to paw my hands away. Recommend having someone help hold the dog. It is a really big tooth and after 2 days and 3 times using this I nearly have gotten it all. The tartar cracks off in pieces. Love this tool. I put a little peanut butter on the other side of her mouth to distract her.

My dogs teeth needed cleaned bad but the vet won’t do it without sedation and my dog can’t be sedated due to old age and heart problems… vet thinks sedation with kill her. I bought these and used them at home… it worked great, get a set of picks to help. Remember gloves and nose plugs… stinky job but it fixed the problem and now the doggy kiss are not stinky

Same quality that are in the veterinary clinics. Solid and good weight to these. Worth it.

A friend told me about this product to clean my dogs teeth. Of coarse the dog doesn’t enjoy cleaning. I used this prior to my Lab going to see the veterinarian, and the vet said “ nice clean teeth.”
