Our grandson had this on his Christmas list to replace the dented one the school provided and was super excited. Worth the price!

I wish it had a string attached, but I'm going to rig that up myself.

Great tone and it's in tune! Of course, it's not real useful for just one or two stopped notes in the middle of a passage, or any place you don't have time to insert and remove the mute - hand stopping will have to do there. For extended passages, it's wonderful. If you want to try to use it quickly, adding some kind of leash to the skinniest section that can slip over your wrist would let you pull it quickly and let it dangle as you reinsert your hand for unstopped playing.

For me it works fairly well in all registers, but it is especially pleasant in the high and middle ranges. It is simple to tether the mute to your wrist. There is a lip around the mute on the large end. Tie one end of a string tightly around the mute just beneath the lip, and put a slip knot loop around the other end of the string for your wrist. Works perfectly.

My son told me three days before a concert that he needed a stopping mute. He had been using his hand. Once he got this mute he wondered why he hadn't gotten one earlier! Easy to use and tone stays true (according to him). It doesn't come with a bag, so you need to find something for transport.

It's not the best stopping mute you will ever see, but it provides a good sound, tune and good deal for the price.

I needed a mute for a concert and I did'nt have one yet. I remembered of my french teacher saying that Denis Wick was a good reference. It sound really great, it is well made, nice wood finish. The bas point is that you must buy the bag separately. At this price, they could put a simple bag, because sometime you don't use it for month and don't put it in your instrument case.
