I ordered these and based on previous user feed back I just used the 3’ tap hose with some older more heavy duty plastic taps, made a good comb8nation and saved me from having to order sap tubing and cut to length. Worked great this season and will use again next year. I save the taps that came with the hoses, but will like only use as backups in the future.

Several of my spiles broke on me. How is this product not eligible for return? Where is the company accountability? This is not from improper use by any means. I have 24 other taps of similar style, this brand is just junk.

They work well… I believe we used a 5/16 bit with these. Tapped them in gently and they started dripping within seconds.

When this item arrived, I was excited to see that the taps were already connected to the drop lines. That may sound silly, but if you’ve ever received them separately and tried to attach them yourself, you will understand. Unfortunately, three of the taps broke on installation, and the remainder broke when I attempted to remove them at the end of one season. The plastic taps are extremely brittle and break at the 90 degree angle, leaving plastic in the tree. I’ve had other brands / purchased from other sellers, and managed to use plastic taps for 3 seasons before needing to be replaced. They shouldn’t break this easily. For one-time usage, I don’t think these are a good value.

Just tapped my trees with these. Much easier than the old metal style I’ve used in the past. One immediately broke at the neck, but overall I give them a good sturdiness rating. Just be gently with them

These taps are extremely weak and snap easy. Out if 10, I brought 5 of them when installing and had to utilize ok’d taps I had which are better constructed.

There are plenty of tips to learn from videos and reading. But it's hard to get it wrong. With 4 taps i made about 20 oz of syrup last year. i even had to tap a couple trees in a new spot after it quit flowing, never had one break. Can twist and pull with pliers, or even pry while twisting if needed. i would recommend to test fit the spile in a scrap wood just to make sure it's not too tight, live wood will swell a tiny bit no matter how sharp your drill bit is, so when test fitting in dry scrap wood it shouldn't be a tight fit. i can't remember now but i think i used a larger bit than what was recommended, never had any leaking issues either

The bit of extra length makes these taps and tubes easier to use than some others I have used. Other than the length these are pretty standard across the market. The plastic that makes up the tap might be a bit softer/ easier to damage with a hammer than others, but it in no way affects the use. *UPDATE The easier to damage plastic ended up being more problematic than first thought. When I went to pull out the taps/spiles they snapped off way too easily. The ones I'd bought a few years ago came out just fine. Breaking off means only one year of use and having to do more damage to the tree to remove the broken off portion.
