I was skeptical at first but I watched a few videos online on how to use it and read reviews. I tried changing the water filter that did not work. When I first use the unfreeze water line Buddy the water did not come out. I had to try it about 5 times. The fifth time I pushed up were there was resistance and it was ice it broke through, the line was frozen. The water started working again. Great product and price. Saved a lot of money versus calling a refrigerator technician.

It took a lot longer to thaw out the line but with a little patience the water dispenser started working.

I think this product could be useful, depending on the model of your refrigerator. We have a Samsung french door model. There is a connector piece between two runs of the water line, one from the filter, then the other down the door. I fed the tube up and it would stop. I thought this was ice, but turns out it was the connector. The actual ice blockage was much farther in. The tube couldn't get past the connector, so before buying this, make sure you know where your refrigerator's water line runs uninterrupted.

This worked well clearing an ice damn that built up. It’s also great extracting water from hard to access areas like a small p trap that was clogged.

I first purchased a different (cheaper) tool that advertised a 1/8 inch diameter, but it was actually closer to 1/4 inch, if not more. Closer to the diameter of the water line itself, so it definitely did not work. This water line was 1/8, and was easily fed through the water line, and did the trick — the ice blockage was removed and ice making restored! Some general tips:1. I had a tough time knowing which line was the water dispensing line, and which was the ice maker line. I was able to confirm this by disconnecting one and then closing the door and try dispensing water. If it stopped working, it was the other line.2. Progress was slow. It took me several tubefulls of water to finally completely clear the blockage, so be patient. You can be sure you’re making progress by checking how much further you’re able to reinsert the line after each refill. You can maybe even feel progress by putting inward force on the line as you eject the hot water to feel if it’s moving and making progress.3. Once the blockage was clear, I couldn’t insert the line any further, so I wasn’t sure whether I had cleared the blockage or if my line wasn’t long enough. I removed the ice bin so I could see whether the (hot) water was making it in, and it was. So the line was barely long enough to clear the blockage. Hopefully that’s a standard line length, but I suppose there’s a chance your line is longer. If so, you may need to try continuing to eject water, hoping it clears it, or find a longer line.In the end, it did the job, saving me a (likely) expensive service call. Plus I’ll probably have the problem recur (based on what I’m reading about my particular fridge), so I’m glad I have a way to clear it out going forward. $20 well spent!Though it does seem like they could reduce the cost for what you’re buying — a plastic syringe and a couple plastic water lines — but still worth it to me. So maybe the price is fine after all. :)

This worked exactly as explained. Took less than 5 minutes to unclog the line!Would recommend trying before calling a tech in.

The water dispenser in the door of our refrigerator stopped working just overnight. You could hear the pump run but no water would come out. It took me a week to get time to check it before I called a technician. I located a line on the back of the refrigerator that had cracked and was spraying a small mist of water in a tray under the refrigerator. I was able to easily repair the water line and thought I had saved me some money from calling an appliance repairman. When I tried to dispense water from the door, the pump would run, no water leak, but still no water was coming from the water dispenser. I then removed the water filter and it had pressure built up and released rather quickly when I removed the filter, which had never happened before since we got the refrigerator in 2006. I decided to "google" the problem and I ran across an article that described the very problem I was having and recommended purchasing this "water line buddy". In the article it stated that the ice dispenser in the door would cause the water line to freeze periodically. At first I was skeptical as we have had this refrigerator since 2006 and it had never frozen before. So as I was reading I decided that I could spend $20.00 and try this water line buddy, and if it didn't work I wouldn't be out much money. The normal appliance repairman charge $75- $95 just to come and diagnose a problem, so I thought I would give it a shot. I ordered the water line buddy one afternoon and it arrived the next day just as I was told. I removed it from the packaging and my wife literally laughed and made fun of me. She asked if I was going to give the refrigerator an enema? I heated some water in a bowl and drew it into the syringe. I attempted to feed it into the water dispenser tube and it didnt go very far. So I immediately became frustrated and thought "I had been had and wasted $20.00". After several attempts to make the line go in further I just decided to squeeze the syringe and at least see if I could force the water in the tube. There was water that poured out of the tube and I quickly realized that it was not hot water but it was cold water. So I refilled the syringe to try again, this time when I pressed the syringe to push water into the tube I accidentally pressed the water dispenser control and cold water blasted out of the water dispenser. At this point the small tube from the syringe could be fed further into the water line. So I quickly determined that what I had thought was a turn in the water line that the small tubing could not travel past, was actually the frozen water causing a blockage. So moral of the story is , we kept this "water line buddy" in a safe place for future use and saved us close to $100 from not having to call a repairman.
