Disappointed in the durability - used it to cut some thin tree branches and to cut into a dried log, and noticed these nicks on the blade. The things that were cut should not have done this much damage, especially in such a short time. Feels good your hand, good weight distribution (maximizes chopping/cutting). Nice sturdy cover/case that you can hang on your belt or pack; wish that it included a pocket for the whetstone. I like the dual line of teeth on the saw blade, and the teeth seem quite sharp. But that section is too short to get a good sawing motion going - not really effective.Overall, I don’t find this machete to be worth the price.

I will admit - I got this tool based on looks alone. It looks friggin' awesome! It would be right at home separating zombie heads from zombie bodies on Netflix. But once I got it, I can see it for what it is. It's a bit like a multitool that doesn't fold. It's a jack of all trades tool. It's kind of a machete, but kind of an axe, but kind of a saw, but kind of a hook, but kind of a camping tool, but kind of a show piece. It is definitely capable. It took out brush with ease, and even chopped down some small trees up to 1" in diameter that I had been meaning to clean up. The edges are sharp all around - the blade, the hook, and the saw teeth. And that's something to note - other than the handle, there isn't really a safe edge on this tool. Everything is sharp all around. So be aware when using it or setting it somewhere.I'm not sure about durability. After that light session cutting and chopping, there were noticeable dings in the cutting edge. I only worked about 15-20 minutes with it, so if I took it out to use all day clearing brush I am not sure it would last the day without needing to be sharpened. Good thing it comes with a sharpening stone.I also am not wild about the handle. The red grips it comes with are serviceable enough, but not super comfortable or super grippy. It does come with paracord and camo wrap, but that really says to me that they acknowledge the handle needs improvement so here's some things that you can maybe doctor it up with and maybe you'll like it better. I think committing to a better handle would improve the product.I have to compare this to my favorite machete which is more of a budget tool. It's the Cold Steel Kukri style machete. And in most use cases, the Cold Steel is a better choice for my use. For brush, that blade with the reverse curve seems to work very efficiently to clear more in a single chop, although the Delacour does have a bit of this reverse curve too. The edge holds better and doesn't get dinged up as easily (1055 carbon steel is harder than 3Cr13 stainless, so this isn't a surprise). And the handle fully encloses the tang and is softer with better grip. The Delacour performs better at chopping through more solid wood with its large solid head, and definitely stands out in the looks department. But if I'm going out to clear brush, I am going to reach for the Cold Steel first. And the Delacour currently costs about 50% more than the Cold Steel.Overall this isn't a bad tool. It certainly looks like something that can do some damage, and it is useful. It can cut and chop and saw, but maybe not as well as dedicated cutters, choppers, and saws. It should exist for the same reason multitools do - it can do the job of many things, maybe not as well, but in the space of just one thing. It could be improved, though. Put a grippier, more comfortable handle on it and make it out of a steel that will hold an edge through at least a day's work and it will be an even better tool. But as it stands it's more of a fun bladed gadget than a serious indispensable tool. Would I take it camping? Sure, to play on the weekend. But if I needed to go survive in the wild I would pick something that I knew I could rely on to be the best at the tasks I needed to do.

I have several items I keep in a cubby box in the trunk of my car. Aside from the car items I carry (jump starter, a jug of water just in case for the radiator, a quart of oil), I do carry a couple of bottled drinking water, a couple of the dry granola bars, matches, a candle, a fold up shovel and now this multi tool item. Should a tree block the road (so long as it's not too big), I can take some time and cut it into smaller pieces to clear the roadway, if the back tires get stuck in mud I can cut some branches to stick under the tires for traction, and of course, make a fire. The paracord and tape is a nice addition, but I do have a smaller tarp that came with paracord and is also stored in the car as temporary shelter if needed. I'm not a total survival person, but I do believe it making myself ready for emergencies. In fall I roll up a wool blanket, hook bungee cords around it and store it in the car in case I'm stuck out during cold weather. My point is that this machete multi-tool is an excellent item to have in my emergency cubby box in my car!
