Very easy to use and incredibly accurate.Portable and durable. I used this for 4 months of field work while monitoring birds in my area

Easy to use and it seems accurate as it also shows 75 decibels when one is speaking as that is what they claim is normal for humans speaking. What surprised me was my chainsaw. Chainsaws are super loud and can be heard a 1/4 of a mile away. I ran my echo 14 inch chainsaw full speed and held this right beside it. I got a reading of 111 decibels. I had assumed maybe 150.This is simple easy to use and I think is verily accurate. My electric guitar playing is around 80. decibels.

This measured the same as the cops unit measuring my Harley Pipes, 102db. So I couldn’t challenge the ticket😂. Sturdy and well made too.

Seems to work. One nit to pick is the foam mic cover is shipped uninstalled and when you do install it, the unit become slightly too long to put back into its box. I just want to take it out, use it for a bit, and put it back in the box for storage. I don't want to disassemble it each time.

Wow! I didn’t expect this thing to be much more than a typical decibel meter. And well, they are, but soooOooo sensitive!I purchased these to help with paranormal investigation. I wanted something pretty sensitive to be able to visually see when an EVP is happening. Just a crazy thought I had.I unpack it, put the batteries in, and crank-er-up!I turned everything off in my apartment to ensure I had no noise. I live right off the main highway going by, so I still have a little noise. But it levels out and stays fairly static. It only goes down to 30db anyway. Low enough pressure to not detect without good hearing and remaining completely quiet. So it sat at around 43db with the hwy.I set it across the room (about 20 feet away), and start making soft noises: • I lightly clapped: it almost peaked! • I snap my fingers: same. • I quietly hum: easily controls the level. • Drop a paper clip (small one): peaks again! The thing picks up every little noise no matter how soft! So I wanted to test the limits of the device. I put my index finger to my thumb and lightly rub them together…The thing picked even THAT up!!! Holy Cow!!I’m fairly confident if I have any EVP’s happening in an investigation, it’s going to pick it up!It’s built just like the orange and black EMF Detectors. Plastic, but sturdy enough to handle much abuse. I wouldn’t test that however, as the mic on top could break off fairly easily I imagine.Great purchase! I’m extremely happy with it and highly recommend it for whatever need you may have.K.C.

This product is really nice and super sensitive when it comes to speaking or music, but it doesn’t capture noise made from thumping or vibration too well. To counter this, I rest it on the surface that’s bing thumped or vibrated, and measure the noise that comes from the device being shaken against the surface

This is a nice little gadget to add to your tool collection, if you ever have a situation where you hear a noise like a ticking ,tapping or maybe a humming sound etc.... go to the general area and move the sound detector and watch the numbers increase as you get closer to the noise. I had a very slight humming noise when I would turn on my kitchen led high hat's and dimmed them . I ended up changing the dimmer switch 3 times to only waste time and money. After that being frustrated, I got an idea to check the high hats one by one with this tool and to my amazement I found that one of the high hats was making that annoying noise. three of the high hats showed about 35 decibels and the last high hat showed 52 . I replaced the high hat and no more hum....I highly recommend this tool.....
